Pascal Wehrlein heeft vertrouwen in auto terug door updates

Sauber-coureur Pascal Wehrlein moest de laatste tijd lijdzaam toezien hoe teamgenoot Marcus Ericsson sneller was. Na de Grand Prix van Mexico heeft Sauber enkele modificaties doorgevoerd aan de bolide van de Duitser, iets waar Wehrlein in de Braziliaanse kwalificatie meteen van wist te profiteren. Wehrlein kwalificeerde zich als achttiende, maar schuift door gridstraffen van anderen nog een paar plekken naar voren. De DTM-kampioen van 2015 is vooral blij dat hij het vertrouwen in de C36 terug heeft weten te vinden.

"Ik ben blij met het resultaat van vandaag, zeker na de problemen die ik de laatste tijd heb gehad met de balans. We hebben wat dingen aan de auto gewijzigd en de auto voelt weer zoals ik hem wil hebben. Ik kon tijdens de kwalificatie voluit gaan en had vertrouwen in de auto. Het scheelde niet veel of we waren in Q2 gekomen, maar door gridstraffen van anderen schuiven we nog een paar plekjes op. Ik hoop morgen een goed resultaat te kunnen halen", aldus Wehrlein in een reactie op de officiële website van Sauber.

Teamgenoot Marcus Ericsson kwalificeerde zich in het kielzog van Wehrlein als negentiende. Ook de Zweed schuift nog wat naar voren vanwege de gridstraffen anderen.

Hij wordt zelfs door Ericsson om de oren gereden. Verder weet hij op geen enkele manier een andere indruk achter te laten dan wat een behangetje ook doet. Er was een een veel belovend Duits coureurtje, vriendje van Wolffie van de sterren. Hij heeft in de jaren niets kunnen laten zien en zijn lampje doofde. Zelfs zijn billenmaatje Wolffie zag hem niet meer staan. Nu nog bij Sauber maar dit jaar zal hij nog gaan. het was een 1 dags vliegje met zwakke vleugeltjes. Het gaat je goed coureurtje, tot nooit!

Wehrlein is niet zo slecht. Maar een gemiddelde F1 coureur heeft in een Sauber weinig mogelijkheden om te excelleren.

  dat heb ik het begin van dit seizoen al voorspelt, Wehrlein haalt het seizoen van 2018 niet in de F1.

  Nou ja, als je de DTM weet te winnen, ben je niet de minste. Zet hem in een competetieve auto en hij gaat als een speer. Alleen hij heeft geen respect voor zijn teamgenoot, dus kunnen ze hem niet naast Hamilton zetten. Hij heeft ook geen respect voor zijn meerderen en daarom wilden ze hem bij FI niet. Daar zie je aan dat ook je gedrag naast de auto bepalend is voor je carriere.

Misschien dat hij over een paar jaar nog een kans krijgt in de F1, ik vermoed dat ook Williams niet voor Wehrlein zal kiezen.
