Kimi Raikkonen: "Had het moeilijk in de eerste stint"

Voor het eerst sinds 2008 stond Kimi Raikkonen weer op het podium na afloop van de Grand Prix van Brazilië. De Fin finishte de race als derde, na in de slotfase de aanvalsdrift van Mercedes-coureur Lewis Hamilton van zich af te hebben geslagen. Raikkonen geeft toe dat het een race was met twee gezichten: de eerste stint was niet goed, in de tweede stint voelde de auto erg goed aan volgens de wereldkampioen van 2007.

In gesprek met Kai Ebel van RTL Deutschland laat Raikkonen de volgende reactie optekenen: "Mijn eerste stint was niet goed, de balans van de auto was niet goed. Ik had het erg lastig in het laatste deel van de eerste stint op de superzachte band. In de tweede stint voelde de auto veel beter aan en wist ik het gat naar Valtteri Bottas en Sebastian Vettel wat te dichten. Aan het einde moest ik nog even op Lewis Hamilton letten, maar mijn snelheid was goed genoeg om hem van me af te houden."

Door de podiumplaats en de zesde plaats van Red Bull-coureur Daniel Ricciardo is het gat tussen Raikkonen en Ricciardo nog maar zeven punten, in het voordeel van Daniel Ricciardo.
