Racing Engineering bespaart zich de stress van Formule 1

Formule 2-team Racing Engineering voelt niet de behoefte om de overstap te maken naar de Formule 1. De Spaanse renstal gaat dan ook geen project voor de koningsklasse van de autosport opstarten. Een avontuur in een lagere klasse kan altijd nog, maar de Formule 1? Dat niet.

Racing Engineering-eigenaar Alfonso de Orleans-Borbon deelde aan Motorsport-Total.com mede: "Als je in meerdere categorieën actief bent, dan zorgt dat vooral voor stress en dat besparen we onszelf liever. Als er bijvoorbeeld iets met het GP3-team gebeurt, dan moet de Formule 2-tak helpen."

"Ik hou van de Formule 2 en kan me niet voorstellen dat we iets anders gaan doen. Of we op een dag in de Formule 3 of de Formule 4 stappen, daar zeg ik niet bij voorbaat nee tegen, maar de Formule 1 is een ander en moeilijker verhaal."

      Inderdaad. F1 is trouwens een bodemloze put en de bodem wordt elk jaar dieper.

      Ja, maar net zoals energie "verdwijnt" geld niet. Het gaat van de ene partij over op de andere. "Iemand" heeft er iig aan verdiend. Jammer voor de aandeelhouders van de partij met verliezen, maar gelukkig voor hen die in dat circus een job hebben en er hun brood mee verdienen, en voor ons natuurlijk, wij die kunnen genieten van het hele spektakel.

    Ik vind F1 wel iets voor Carlin. Geen idee waarom maar ik zie t dat team wel wagen met een budget plafond.

      ik niet, aangezien Carlin inmiddels al meerdere malen bijna failliet is gegaan. Alleen de centen van Max Chilton in de Indy Lights hielden het team overeind. Verder hebben ze ook aan het geldinfuus van o.a. de families Gelael en Canamasas gehangen en moesten ze zich na het weggaan van Jolly Palmer schielijk uit een aantal klassen terugtrekken om te overleven. Ook de plannen van Rinus Van Kalmthout in de VS kwamen door Carlin in gevaar, nadat hun partner Benik zich ineens terugtrok uit een deal om samen een USF2000 entry voor Van Kalmthout te regelen. Gelukkig kwam dat dankzij Pabst Racing nog goed, maar dat terzijde.

    Zulke teams kunnen toch ook nooit overleven in F1, dat iemand uberhaupt de moeite heeft genomen om ernaar te vragen. F1 is een spel van politiek en geld waarin eigenlijk alleen grote merken kunnen overleven.

    Arden is al jaren sinds Horner bij RedBull zit een verkapt RedBull junior team in alle klasses waar Arden in meedoet.

    Vasseur, bekend van ART, zit nu als teambaas bij sauber.
    Dat ze die man hebben laten gaan bij Renault is onbegrijpelijk.
    De lagere formule klasses zijn niet alleen opstapjes voor coureurs maar ook voor alle andere vacatures die de F1 rijk is, teambazen, monteurs, engineers, etc

    Al die kleine teams die een paar jaar meedoen en achteraan rijden.. nee dank je.

    Met uitzondering van Minardi (Toro Rosso) die ons talenten als Alonso gegeven heeft.

      Wat is een klein team? STR, Haas zijn ook kleine teams. In deze tijd is het toch wel duidelijk dat je niet achteraan hoeft te rijden. Verder kunnen ze gewoon als een soort opleidingsteam dienen of opvang voor coureurs die nergens anders terecht kunnen. Renault gaat sowieso scheiden met Red Bull, en heeft dan een team naast Mclaren nodig die ze als een soort driver development team kunnen gebruiken, waar ze voor een lagere prijs of zelfs gratis aandrijflijnen aan gunnen (McLaren zal immers alles zelfstandig doen).

      Ze hoeven alleen financieel gezond te zijn, anders dan iets als Manor dat afhankelijk was van dat ene puntje en vervolgens failliet was nadat Sauber ze voorbij was.

    Vertrouwen komt te voet en gaat te paard. Er heerst tegenwoordig gewoon een diep, diep wantrouwen onder potentiële nieuwkomers tav F1. Hoe zou dat nu komen?

    Begrijpelijk, waarschijnlijk zeer verstandig, maar toch jammer. We hebben alweer een tijdje geen nieuw team meer gehad en we hebben broodnodig een nieuw team nodig.
