Force India nog altijd in dubio over naamsverandering

Het team van Force India is er nog altijd niet uit onder welke naam ze volgend jaar aan de start zullen verschijnen. De Indiase renstal zinspeelt op een naamswijziging voor een meer internationale uitstraling. Alleen weet Force India nog niet welke naam het dan moet worden.

Door de optie Force One kan in elk geval een streep, daar stak Formule 1-eigenaar Liberty Media een stokje voor. Force India-directeur Otmar Szafnauer legt aan Sky Sports F1 uit: "De mensen achter de Formule 1 denkt dat Force One als snel afgekort wordt tot 'F1'."

Maar wat dan? Szafnauer vervolgt: "We hebben de knoop nog niet doorgehakt. Iedereen heeft een mening wat betreft de naam van ons team. We moeten allerlei afwegingen maken. De naam moet tot in de eeuwigheid mee kunnen, het moet kloppen, het mag geen Force One zijn; al dat soort dingen."

Force India moet wel eerst toestemming krijgen van de overige teams en van de internationale autosportbond FIA voordat ze in 2018 onder een andere naam actief kunnen zijn.
