Peter Sauber richt zich nog steeds op stabiliteit voor team

Het gaat beter met het team van Sauber, maar de Zwitserse renstal is nog niet in rustig vaarwater. Teambaas Peter Sauber geeft zichzelf nog maximaal drie jaar om de equipe stabiel te maken en dan wil hij een stap terug doen.

Een jaar geleden zei ik dat ik niet op mijn zeventigste nog op de pitmuur wilde zitten. Dat is nog steeds het geval en ik ben nu 67 jaar. Cruciaal voor mij is om het team meer stabiliteit te brengen en een financiële basis op te bouwen waardoor de sportieve toekomst gewaarborgd is. Wanneer dat geregeld is doe ik een stap terug.

Ik bezit honderd procent van het team en op dit moment zijn er geen plannen om het team of een deel daarvan te verkopen. Het partnerschap met Telmex, die op 1 januari 2011 van start gaat, behelst geen vorm van aandelenverkoop en is puur een sponsorovereenkomst, aldus Sauber.
