Silverstone noemt nieuw pit- en paddockcomplex Silverstone Wing

Het circuit van Silverstone heeft een naam gevonden voor het nieuwe pit- paddockcomplex dat vanaf volgend jaar in gebruik gaat. De baan vroeg de fans om een titel te bedenken en de winnende inzending leverde de naam The Silverstone Wing op.

Wing verwijst zowel naar de autosport als naar luchtvaart en verbindt dus het heden en het verleden van Silverstone met elkaar. Het circuit deed vroeger dienst als militair vliegveld. Tien mensen zonden de naam in en ze krijgen allen een prijzenpakket toegestuurd.

Het nieuwe pit- en paddockcomplex van Silverstone is gesitueerd tussen de bochten Club en Abbey, waar vanaf 2011 de Grand Prix ook begint en eindigt. De nieuwe hoofdtribune langs het nieuwe stuk van start en finish is reeds uitverkocht.
