Hamilton lyrisch over de nieuwe hyperzachte compound

Mercedes-coureur Lewis Hamilton deed gisteren een eerste indruk op van de Pirelli-banden voor 2018 en die eerste kennismaking beviel de wereldkampioen uitstekend. Vooral de nieuwe hyperzachte compound viel in de smaak bij de Brit.

Hamilton: "Ik ben niet echt fan van testen, maar dit was een positieve dag met de nieuwe banden voor volgend jaar. We hebben veel ronden afgelegd en genoeg data en feedback vergaard om de komende winter de juiste richting op te gaan. We hebben een aardig idee over wat de banden in 2018 zullen gaan doen."

"Mijn eerste indruk is dat de nieuwe hyperzachte compound de beste band is die Pirelli heeft geproduceerd sinds ze terug zijn in de Formule 1. De andere compounds zijn wat mij betreft nog iets te hard, maar we gaan de goede kant op. Het was een goede manier om het jaar af te sluiten, met een laatste dag in de W08. Ik ben nu absoluut toe aan vakantie."

      En daarna dankte Lewis de aanwezige fans. De beste 'testdagen'-fans ter wereld noemde hij ze. Het was weer een eer om deel van die ambiance te mogen uitmaken.

    Ik begrijp eigenlijk niet waar al die compounds voor nodig zijn eigenlijk. Ik heb geen enkele keer iemand op hard zien rijden dit seizoen (in de race) Waarom niet alle bestaande banden een stuk zachter maken? Het helpt allemaal niet om de F1 duidelijker te maken vind ik. Laat staan dat ik het mijn vrouw moet uitleggen........................

    Klinkt allemaal leuk, maar dan nog blijft het de beslissing van Pirelli welke 3 compounts er mee gaan naar een race, waarom laten ze de teams niet zelf beslissen welke band ze willen, lijkt me ook meer spanning in de race te brengen en meer verschillen in tactiek.
