Hamilton reed 44 procent van de ronden aan de leiding

Mercedes-coureur Lewis Hamilton heeft dit seizoen in bijna de helft van het totaal aantal raceronden aan de leiding gelegen. Dat heeft Formula1.com naar buiten gebracht. Deze statistiek geeft eens te meer aan dat Hamilton de terechte wereldkampioen van 2017 is.

De Brit schreef negen van de twintig Grands Prix op zijn naam en scoorde in elke race punten. Het totaal aantal raceronden bedroeg dit jaar 1.196. Daarvan reed Hamilton 527 ronden aan kop van het veld, wat neerkomt op ongeveer 44 procent.

Dit jaar zijn elf nieuwe ronderecords gevestigd; in Rusland, Monaco, Azerbeidzjan, Oostenrijk, Groot-Brittannië, België, Singapore, Maleisië, de Verenigde Staten, Mexico en Brazilië. Op dit vlak legde Hamilton het wel af tegen Ferrari-rijder Sebastian Vettel.

Vettel is namelijk verantwoordelijk voor vijf nieuwe ronderecords, terwijl Hamilton drie nieuwe ronderecords op zijn geweten heeft. De overige drie ronderecords kwamen op naam van Kimi Raikkonen (Rusland), Sergio Perez (Monaco) en Max Verstappen (Brazilië).
