Felipe Massa voorzitter van de FIA Karting Commissie

Oud Formule 1-coureur Felipe Massa gaat een rol binnen de internationale autosportbond FIA bekleden. Bij de Annual General Assembly in Parijs is de Braziliaan benoemd tot voorzitter van de Karting Commissie. Massa gaat zich in die hoedanigheid ontfermen over de kartsport.

De Braziliaan is net met Formule 1-pensioen. In maart 2018 verschijnt Massa in elk geval aan de start van een race in de Braziliaanse stock cars op Interlagos en hij is veelvuldig in verband gebracht met de Formule E. Dat zal hij dan moeten combineren met zijn werkzaamheden voor de FIA.

Carmen Jorda krijgt ook een functie binnen de federatie; zij gaat zich in de Women's Commission inspannen voor vrouwen in de autosport.

Over de aanstelling van Jorda is vrouwelijke coureur Pippa Mann behoorlijk ontsteld. "Als het nieuws klopt dat jullie een rijder aangesteld hebben die niet gelooft dat mannen en vrouwen als gelijken autosport zouden moeten beoefenen, dan ben ik extreem teleurgesteld."

  Inderdaad een strakke opmerking van Pippa Mann. Ze hadden wat dat betreft nog beter Danica Patrick kunnen kiezen.
  
  Maar ja, FIA wil natuurlijk iemand uit de Europse racewereld, in plaats van uit de VS. Wat dat betreft hadden ze ook nog Suzie Wolff kunnen kiezen.

Naar verluidt twijfelde Felipe eerst nog, maar toen hij hoorde dat hij dan vaker met Carmen Jorda aan tafel zou zitten, wist hij niet hoe snel hij toe moest happen! :-)
