Todt geniet het vertrouwen van de FIA-gemeenschap

Jean Todt is vorige week officieel herkozen als voorzitter van de internationale autosportbond FIA. De Fransman begint aan een derde termijn als president van de federatie. Heel verrassend was de verkiezingsuitslag niet; er was immers geen tegenkandidaat.

Todt legde aan RTBF uit hoe dat komt: "De FIA-gemeenschap was tevreden met de kandidaat en wilde dat ik zou blijven als voorzitter. Eerst kenden ze me alleen aan de hand van mijn verleden, de afgelopen jaren heb ik het vertrouwen van de leden voor me gewonnen. We hebben elkaar leren kennen, samengewerkt, gepraat en gecommuniceerd. Dat heeft geresulteerd in een gemeenschap die verenigd is."

De voormalig teambaas van Ferrari staat sinds 2009 aan het roer bij de FIA. Aan het einde van deze termijn in 2021 kan Todt zich niet nogmaals herkiesbaar stellen. De statuten schrijven voor dat iemand maximaal drie termijnen als voorzitter van de internationale autosportbond mag fungeren.

    FIA is net zo kliekje mensen als bij de FIFA,soort SPECTRE als in de James bond films.

      klopt Jean todt treed naar buiten toe als FIA baas, maar achter de schermen trekt
      Ernst Stavro Blofeld aan de touwtjes, helaas geen James Bond die de organisatie kan ontmantelen en daarmee de f1 kan redden vd ondergang...

      Nog altijd onbegrijpelijk dat die sukkel zo’n pracht exemplaar heeft laten ontploffen (Never Say Never Again).

    Ik hoopte dat het goed zou zijn toen hij erbij kwam, maar hij is net zo erg als de rest. Logisch als je eerst hun vertrouwen moet winnen. Het blijft eeuwig een uitgedroogd zooitje daar.
