Renault boekte meeste vooruitgang ten opzichte van 2016

Het team van Renault heeft dit jaar de grootste stap vooruit gezet ten opzichte van vorig seizoen. Gemiddeld ging de Franse renstal er zo'n 3,25 seconden per ronde op vooruit in vergelijking met 2016, berekende Speed Week. Daarmee troeft Renault topteams als Ferrari en Red Bull Racing af.

Ferrari was 2,85 seconden per ronde sneller dan in 2016. Bij Red Bull Racing bedroeg het verschil gemiddeld 2,27 seconden per ronde. Onderaan het lijstje staat Williams, dat gemiddeld 'slechts' 1,62 seconde per ronde progressie boekte ten opzichte van vorig jaar. Sauber deed het met een vooruitgang van 1,64 seconde per ronde niet veel beter.

Renault voert ook een minder positief lijstje aan, namelijk die van uitvalbeurten met een technische of mechanische oorzaak. De coureurs van de Franse renstal haalden maar liefst elf keer de finish niet door een technisch mankement. Red Bull Racing is een goede tweede met negen en Renault-klant Toro Rosso staat met zeven ook hoog in dit klassement. Alleen McLaren-Honda wurmde zich met acht uitvalbeurten met een technische achtergrond tussen de drie Renault-teams.

Mercedes, Ferrari en Force India vielen dit seizoen ieder maar één keer uit met een technisch probleem. Mercedes en Ferrari domineerden de eerste startrij dit jaar. Van de veertig posities op de voorste rij gingen er 37 naar de twee topteams; 19 naar Mercedes en 18 naar Ferrari. De overige drie gingen naar Red Bull Racing.

Mooi dat je de meeste vooruitgang weet te boeken..... Nu nog de aansluiting vinden, anders heb je niet zoveel aan die vooruitgang....

Geeft alleen maar aan hoe slecht die Renault vorig jaar was. Grote kans dat McLaren komend jaar dit lijstje gaat aanvoeren. Of anders Sauber. Die 2 teams gaan er motorisch zoveel op vooruit dat het Renault team dat nooit gaat lukken in 2018.

  @Pietje McLaren gaat van de problematische Honda naar de betere Renault die dit jaar beter was en volgend jaar nog beter. Dus tot dit jaar zullen ze dan flink stijgen. Sauber gaat van een oude Ferrari-motor en een chassis dat ontwikkeld is in financieel lastige omstandigheden, naar een aanzienlijk die twee jaar nieuwer is en een chassis dat onder betere omstandigheden ontwikkeld is. Dus voor deze teams zou de verbetering enorm moeten zijn tov wat ze dit jaar deden.

Je mag Ferrari toch wel 2 uitvalbeurten toe-eigenen toch?
Kimi in Maleisië, Seb in Japan. Ookal was die van Kimi een DNS.

Treurige cijfers voor het Renault blok. Als dit niet veranderd mag Renault zich wel eens afvragen wat ze in de F1 te zoeken hebben. Ik bedoel, dit is geen promotie voor je merk zeg maar......

  Denk je dat het Renault siert indien ze maar gelijk eruit stappen indien het even tegenzit? Dat doet de vertrouwen zeker geen goed.
  
  Wat ze wel siert is; doorgaan, oplossingen toepassen, verbeteren waar mogelijk en laten zien dat ze het kunnen.
  Wat ze niet siert (wat jij wilt/denkt/zegt); stoppen indien het even tegenzit.

  In de dominante jaren met Williams was Renault als motorleverancier in de F1 zonder concessies. Ze hadden toen full commitment en hadden geen budget. Dat is nu heel anders. De hand zit op de knip bij Renault. En dan zie je wat het opleverd. Alleen maar negatieve publiciteit. Dat bedoel ik met afvragen wat je in de F1 doet. Als Renault zo nog tien jaar doorgaat, wat leverd het dan in vredesnaam op?
