Ecclestone: "Voor democratie geen plek in Formule 1"

De enige manier om de Formule 1 te leiden is als een soort dictator. Dat zegt Bernie Ecclestone in gesprek met Sonntagsblick. Journalist Roger Benoit zocht de voormalig commerciële baas van de Formule 1 op bij zijn koffieplantage in Brazilië en sprak met hem over Liberty Media.

Het mediabedrijf heeft de koningsklasse van de autosport nu bijna een jaar in bezit, zonder noemenswaardige resultaten. Althans, dat vindt Ecclestone. "Voor democratie is geen plek in de Formule 1. De nieuwe eigenaren zullen dit snel genoeg beseffen, want tot nu toe hebben ze niets bereikt."

Ook over Ferrari liet de Brit zich kritisch uit. De dreigementen van de Scuderia om de Formule 1 de rug toe te keren zijn bij Ecclestone aan dovemansoren gericht. "Ach, dat oude spelletje. Als Ferrari niet wint, breekt steevast paniek uit. Max Mosley kunnen een lange lijst samenstellen met keren dat we Ferrari geholpen hebben, al zullen ze dat altijd ontkennen."

      @Caramba heeft gelijk. Hoe Ecclestone erover denkt – dat hij een F1-dictatuur wil – is al genoegzaam bekend. Tien, vijftien jaar terug of zelfs nog langer wisten we dat al. Dit is bagger.

      Als je dan nieuws wilt creëren kom dan met details en feiten die we nog niet kennen, dan heb je pas nieuws, het woord ‘nieuws’ zegt het al...

      Bijvoorbeeld over hoe ze Ferrari hebben geholpen, naast het geven van het vetorecht in bepaalde situaties.

    Gelijk heeft hij.. Alleen is L.M ook niet bepaald democratische maar hebben ze meer last van de hedendaagse plaag , het politiekcorrecte , waar (vooral) de Westerse maatschappij nog aan ten onder gaat als het zo doorgaat... Ferrari verhaaltje is bekend....

    Zoveel maakt een dictatuur ook niet uit. Benie heeft het bijvoorbeeld ook niet aangedurfd om bij Ferrari het vetorecht weer in te trekken.
