De Formule 2 introduceert komend seizoen een nieuwe auto. De GP2/11 wordt na zeven jaar trouwe dienst afgedankt en vervangen voor een nieuw exemplaar. Daar is recent al mee getest op het Yas Marina Circuit te Abu Dhabi en de Formule 2 heeft bij wijze van kerstcadeau daar wat onboard-beelden van vrijgegeven. De bolide bevatte bij de test nog geen 'halo', maar het systeem zit volgend jaar ook op de wagens in het voorportaal van de Formule 1.
