Toro Rosso presenteert nieuwe auto op 25 februari

Scuderia Toro Rosso heeft de presentatiedatum voor de bolide voor het komende seizoen - de STR13 - bekendgemaakt. Het opleidingsteam van Red Bull onthult de wagen voor 2018 op 25 februari, een dag voordat de eerste wintertest aanvangt in Barcelona. Dat verklapte Toro Rosso-teambaas Franz Tost tegenover Speed Week.

"De fire-up, het voor het eerst opstarten van de nieuwe auto, staat voor halverwege februari gepland. De presentatie van de STR13 vindt op 25 februari op het Circuit de Catalunya nabij Barcelona plaats", aldus Tost. De Oostenrijker mikt met Toro Rosso al jarenlang op de vijfde positie in het kampioenschap voor constructeurs.

Afgelopen jaar is dat weer niet gelukt. De Italiaanse renstal eindigde voor het vierde opeenvolgende jaar als zevende. Toro Rosso raakte de zesde plek bij de seizoensfinale in Abu Dhabi kwijt aan Renault. Voor komend seizoen kan Tost nog geen concrete doelstellingen formuleren. "Een klassering in de middenmoot is een realistisch doel."

Tost voorziet voor 2018 geen schokkende veranderingen in de pikorde. "Eerlijk gezegd verwacht ik geen grote verschuivingen, er zal niet zo veel veranderen aan de verhoudingen. Ik reken op een sterk Mercedes en ik hoop dat Red Bull Racing en Ferrari voor een spannende titelstrijd kunnen zorgen. En als ik toch eerlijk ben, hoop ik dat sterker voor Red Bull Racing dan voor Ferrari."

Toro Rosso is het tweede team dat een datum geprikt heeft voor de presentatie van de nieuwe auto. Eerder liet Ferrari weten dat zij hun nieuwe bolide op 22 februari aan de wereld tonen. Het chassis voor de Scuderia Toro Rosso STR13 doorstond eerder deze week de verplichte crashtests.

  Ik heb niet zoveel vertrouwen in honda meer na eind 2016 te verwachten dat ze in 2017 wel mee zouden doen voor podiums en overwinningen

  Zou gaaf zijn maar ik vermoed dat TR zelfs met Mercedes motor het podium niet zou halen. Force India heeft geen verkeerde auto +Mercedes motor en haalt ook het podium niet.

Benieuwd naar de livery! [zoals ieder jaar]

Ik was vorig jaar erg verrast; ik vond 'm prachtig toen het doek eraf ging. Maar als ie weer precies hetzelfde zou zijn zou ik teleurgesteld zijn. Een livery moet ieder jaar wat opschuiven vind ik. als je jaren later een foto ziet, dan kan de fan meteen zien aah, dat was 2018. Williams is een voorbeeld van een team dat wel wat meer met z'n Martinistreepjes kan doen. Kijk naar de oude Brabham. :-)

  In 2017 hebben ze de livery net voor het eerst zo’n beetje een echt afwijkende look ten opzichte van Red Bull Racing gegeven @Zeswieler, daarom verwacht ik nu hooguit wat verschuivingen in details.
  Wellicht voor kenners genoeg om te zien uit welk jaar die auto stamt, wat jij al aangaf.

  De wit/rode STR livery van Sean Bull is echt fantastisch. Mooie connectie naar Japan voor Honda and de auto ziet er goed uit!

dan hebben ze goed gewerkt geleverd . McLaren had meer moeite gisteren om de zaak op tijd klaar te krijgen. Eerlijk gezegd zou het me niets verbazen als ze al eerder met de Honda motor bezig waren dan dat wij dat te horen kregen.
