Onduidelijkheid rondom F1 Live-evenementen voor 2018

Het is nog altijd niet duidelijk hoeveel uitvoeringen van F1 Live dit jaar plaats zullen vinden en waar en wanneer die plaats moeten vinden. De eerste editie van F1 Live vorig jaar was een groot succes. Alle Formule 1-teams verleenden hun medewerking en het evenement in Londen trok meer dan 100.000 toeschouwers. Dat nodigde uit tot meer van hetzelfde.

Dat was ook de bedoeling, maar er is een kink in de kabel gekomen. De kosten voor een demonstratie van deze proporties blijken toch wel erg hoog en niemand wil de verantwoordelijkheid om die rekening te betalen op zich nemen. Bovendien wordt er nog gesteggeld over de locaties voor nieuwe edities van F1 Live, schrijft Christian Sylt namens Forbes.

In eerste instantie dacht men aan Sjanghai, Miami, Marseille en Rio de Janeiro. Daarvan zijn Sjanghai en Marseille overgebleven. Miami en Rio de Janeiro zijn afgevallen en voor die steden zijn Moskou en Berlijn in de plaats gekomen, vernam Sylt van toonaangevende bronnen binnen enkele Formule 1-teams. Maar zolang niemand voor de kosten opdraait, komt er niks van terecht.

In Marseille rekenden ze zich al rijk. Locoburgemeester Jean Roatta deelde eerder al mede: "De burgemeester heeft ingestemd met de komst van de Formule 1. We hebben nog niet met een afvaardiging van Formula One Management gesproken, maar we werken al aan aspecten als veiligheid en de locatie. We hebben een parkoers in de buurt van het Mucem (museum van de Europese en Mediterrane beschavingen, red.) in ons hoofd. Het moet ervan komen, want dit is zeer aantrekkelijk voor onze stad."

  Afgelopen jaar wilde ik naar Ferrari Clienti in Italie (weet zo niet meer welk circuit), maar kon geen enkele informatie vinden voor toeschouwers. Ben uiteindelijk maar niet gegaan. Is Spa dan gewoon toegankelijk voor toeschouwers?
