Valt circuit van Sotsji in handen van de Russische staat?

De Russische regering is bezig met een aantal wetswijzigingen om van de Sochi Autodrom staatseigendom te maken. Dat bericht brengt Motorsport Week. De Sochi Autodrom is sinds 2014 gastheer voor de Grand Prix van Rusland. Het circuit, dat langs allerlei locaties van de Olympische Winterspelen van 2014 in Sotsji voert, is nu nog in bezit Center Omega.

Die firma is weer in handen van de provincie Krasnodar, dat ook het contract met de Formule 1 beheert. Daar komt uiterlijk volgend jaar verandering in. Een woordvoerder van Center Omega verklaarde aan persbureau Tass: "De circuits worden overgenomen. Momenteel zijn gesprekken gaande over de voorwaarden en condities voor die overname."

De Russische overheid bereidt een regelverandering voor waardoor de Sochi Autodrom onder het bewind van de staat of van een publieke instelling komt te staan. Dat zou belastingtechnisch weer voordelen opleveren. De nieuwe reglementen zouden in juli 2019 in moeten gaan.

Rusland heeft nog tot en met 2025 een contract om een Grand Prix te mogen organiseren. In eerste instantie sloten toenmalig premier Vladimir Poetin en Formule 1-baas Bernie Ecclestone een overeenkomst voor de periode van 2014 tot en met 2020, maar die verbintenis is in februari 2017 met vijf jaar verlengd.

    Als het circuit in handen is van een bedrijf, betaalt dat bedrijf de belasting aan de staat. Als het circuit in handen is van de staat, betaalt de burger de belasting aan de staat. Duidelijk dus voor wie het een belastingvoordeel gaat opleveren... niet de kijker/fan. Maar ja, is Rusland hè? Of is dit overal zo? ;-)

    F1 in Rusland. Het blijft een vreemde combinatie. Alle Russische inmengingen tot nu toe hebben de F1 niets positiefs gebracht. Zelfs het circuit is een gedrocht waar vrijwel nooit ingehaald kan worden. Wat dat betreft kan Bakoe mij meer bekoren, dat circuit is een tempel van snelheid.

      Als Rusland en F1 al een vreemde combinatie is dan zijn Bakoe en F1 dat helemaal. Het enige waar het de FOM/LM om gaat zijn de centjes en die zijn er in beide landen bij de regering genoeg. Dus zo vreemd is het niet ;-)

      Dat klopt, zelfde geld voor andere landen zonder race cultuur. Als het circuit echter leuk is dan maakt het mij wat minder uit waar er gereden wordt. Over Bakoe zijn de meningen echter verdeeld...ik weet het...maar ik hou nu eenmaal van snelle banen :)
