Bortolotti: "Verwijdering uit Ferrari Driver Academy niet verwacht"

Mirko Bortolotti kreeg vorige week te horen dat hij zijn plek in de Ferrari Driver Academy kwijt is geraakt. De Italiaanse renstal ondersteunt de 20-jarige coureur na een tegenvallend jaar in de GP3 niet langer. Een onprettige verrassing voor het talent dat de snelste rondetijd in de Ferrari F2008 op Fiorano achter zijn naam heeft staan.

Bortolotti vertelde aan Motorline.cc: De verandering van richting van de Ferrari Driver Academy had ik niet verwacht en ik ben teleurgesteld. Van de Formule 1-testengineers ontving ik alleen maar positieve feedback en ze waren altijd tevreden over mijn prestaties en mijn werk. Om eerlijk te zijn denk ik nu al enige tijd aan een carrière in de toeringwagens of sportscars. Ik ben een coureur, geen dromer. Aan de andere kant heb ik zoveel aanmoediging gekregen dat ik nog steeds werk aan mijn doel en niet op mag geven. En deze aanmoediging, ook van mensen uit de Formule 1, motiveert me enorm.
