Slechts negen verschillende winnaars in laatste 100 races

Men roept weleens dat de Formule 1 meer verschillende winnaars nodig heeft. Auto Bild is in de cijfers gedoken en daaruit blijkt dat de voorspelbaarheid van de sport nooit eerder zo groot was als in de afgelopen honderd races. Er waren slechts negen verschillende winnaars in de voorbije honderd races. Nooit eerder was het aanbod van diverse winnaars zo schraal.

Wat betreft het huidige decennium is het van hetzelfde laken een pak. Met nog twee jaar te gaan staat de teller op elf verschillende winnaars. Het negatieve record van de jaren negentig en het eerste decennium van dit millennium van zeventien verschillende winnaars komt in zicht. Er is in elk geval een duidelijke trend waarneembaar dat er steeds minder verschillende racewinnaars zijn.

Voorafgaand aan de afgelopen honderd races lag het gemiddelde aantal verschillende racewinnaars per honderd races jarenlang tussen de twaalf en dertien. Daarvoor lag het aantal verschillende racewinnaars per honderd races zelfs boven de twintig. Dan hebben we het over de periode voor begin jaren tachtig. Daarna vond een kentering plaats met steeds vaker langere periodes van dominantie.

Wat te denken van McLaren eind jaren tachtig, Williams begin jaren negentig, Ferrari begin dit millennium, Red Bull Racing begin dit decennium en Mercedes nu? Het is dan ook niet gek dat Lewis Hamilton de coureur met de meeste overwinningen achter zijn naam is in de voorbije honderd races. De viervoudig wereldkampioen boekte in die periode maar liefst 42 zeges.

  @Esdamion. Raikkonen die wint is no de meest realistische optie, de rest... dan moet het wel heel raar lopen. Zoiets als minimaal Baku 2017.

Dominantie van een team hoort erbij, maar leuk is anders met die enorme budgetverschillen en historische bonussen van de topteams.

  Ze moeten zeker wat doen aan die bonussen. Dat is competitievervalsing en daar is dit rechtstreeks een gevolg van.
  Hoe ze het verder moeten oplossen is de vraag.

Onrechtstreeks is dat ook een gevolg van meer races op een seizoen. 100 races is nu ongeveer 5 seizoenen, in de jaren 80 waren dat er 7 of 8. In het tussenseizoen veranderen de verhoudingen het meest, dus ook de kans op nieuwe winaars. Bovendien is er de voorbije 5 seizoenen weinig veranderd in de topteams. Vettel is van RBR naar Ferrari gegaan, Verstappen is uiteindelijk in zijn plaats gekomen en die won al. Bij Ferrari is Alonso weggegaan. Bij Mercedes kwam Bottas in de plaats van Rosberg en die won al.

In het voorbije decennia was 2008 alleen al goed voor 8 winnaars. De one-off van Fisichella zorgt dan al voor 9. Er was ook een grote wissel van de wacht in de 00's. Schumacher, Hakkinen, Coulthard, Ralf Schumacher en Montoya haakte af, Alonso, Hamilton, Raikkonen, Vettel, Button en Massa kwamen in de plaats.
