Austin Dillon heeft dit weekend de Daytona 500 op zijn naam geschreven. Het was zijn allereerste overwinning in de NASCAR Monster Energy Cup Series. Er zat wel een luchtje aan de zege. Dillon gaf leider Eric Almirola in de slotfase een licht duwtje, waarna Almirola spinde. De wedstrijdleiding zag geen kwaad in de manoeuvre en kende Dillon de winst toe.
