Renault slaat de handen ineen met Alibaba's Tmall

Het team van Renault heeft aan de vooravond van de presentatie van de nieuwe auto een nieuwe partner gestrikt. Het gaat om Tmall van de Alibaba Group. Tmall is een Chinese online marktplaats waar buitenlandse bedrijven hun goederen en producten aan Chinese consumenten aan kunnen bieden. Dongfeng Renault Automotive Company hoopt op deze manier in 2022 400.000 auto's te verkopen op de Chinese markt.

Renault zal in maart meer details van de samenwerking met Tmall openbaren. Het logo van Tmall prijkt dit jaar prominent op de nieuwe RS18. Renault-directeur Cyril Abiteboul: "Een van de belangrijkste doelstellingen voor Renault om met een eigen fabrieksteam terug te keren in de Formule 1 was om het globale platform van deze sport te gebruiken ten behoeve van de Renault Group."

"China is aangestipt als een strategisch belangrijke markt en de samenwerking met een bekend bedrijf als Alibaba's Tmall biedt volop mogelijkheden om onze naamsbekendheid in China te vergroten. We zullen sterk vertegenwoordigd zijn bij de Chinese Grand Prix in april, maar het hele jaar door zullen we Tmall en Renault onder de aandacht brengen."
