Sauber slaat Richard Mille aan de haak als sponsor

Het team van Sauber heeft een nieuwe sponsor mogen verwelkomen. Het betreft horlogemerk Richard Mille, eerder sponsor van McLaren en Lotus. Het logo van de horlogefabrikant komt op de zijkant van de monocoque van de nieuwe C37 en op de overalls van de coureurs te staan.

Sauber-teambaas Frederic Vasseur: "We zijn verguld om onze samenwerking met Richard Mille als partner van Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team aan te kondigen. Samenwerken met zo'n prestigieus merk in de koningsklasse van de sport is zowel voor het team als voor de Formule 1 positief nieuws. We kijken uit naar de samenwerking tijdens het komende seizoen."

Richard Mille-directeur Richard Mille: "Voor iemand die al geruime tijd een passie voor autosport bezit, is het een enorme genoegdoening om de samenwerking met Alfa Romeo Sauber F1 Team te bevestigen. We zullen Marcus Ericsson en Charles Leclerc, die al langer onderdeel uitmaakt van de Richard Mille-familie, tijdens het komende seizoen vergezellen."

Sauber presenteert de nieuwe C37 later vandaag, om 12.30 uur om precies te zijn. De Zwitserse renstal verzekerde zich eerder al van de steun van Alfa Romeo als titelsponsor en technische partner.

    Richard Mille sponsort het halve wagen park van de F1, dus ik ga er niet vanuit dat dit enorme bedragen zijn die naar Sauber vloeien.

    Het is afwachten in hoeverre dit ook daadwerkelijk geld oplevert. Ze hebben meerdere sponsoren op de auto staan, maar we zien hoe Williams hun keuzes maakt qua coureurs terwijl zij ogenschijnlijk ook grote sponsoren hebben.
