Penske en Unser vieren vandaag hun verjaardag

Twee Amerikaanse racelegendes zijn vandaag jarig. Oud Formule 1-coureur Roger Penske heeft de leeftijd van 81 jaar bereikt. De Amerikaan verscheen in 1961 en 1962 aan de start van de Grand Prix in eigen land op het circuit van Watkins Glen. Hij haalde beide keren de finish, maar wel buiten de punten. Meer roem vergaarde hij als eigenaar van een succesvol IndyCar-team.

Ook bij oud-coureur Bobby Unser is het feest; hij viert vandaag zijn 84ste verjaardag. De Amerikaan schreef zich twee keer in voor een Grand Prix. In Italië 1968 ging hij niet van start, in eigen land later datzelfde jaar viel hij uit. Daar bleef het bij wat optredens in de Formule 1 betreft. Hij schreef wel drie keer de beroemde Indy 500 op zijn naam.

De felicitaties gaan uit naar de jarige Penske en Unser.
