Nieuwe helm van Ericsson geïnspireerd op Peterson

Sauber-coureur Marcus Ericsson heeft een nieuw helmdesign voor komend seizoen. Het ontwerp is afkomstig van Sean Bull, die in Formule 1-kringen bekendheid geniet vanwege zijn alternatieve livery's en ontwerpen voor auto's en helmen. Hij heeft bij de nieuwe helm voor de Zweed Ericsson goed gekeken naar de helm van diens illustere landgenoot Ronnie Peterson.

Bull legt uit: "De hedendaagse helmdesigns zijn vaak zo druk en gecompliceerd en door het vele verwisselen van ontwerp verliezen helmen hun iconische status. Ik wilde kijken wat we konden bewerkstelligen als we dat wat zouden verminderen en de helm zo simpel mogelijk zouden maken. Dat was ook de insteek toen ik de helmen van vorig jaar een jaren zeventig-sausje gaf. Op basis daarvan nam Marcus contact met me op met de vraag of ik voor 2018 iets soortgelijks voor hem wilde creëren."

"Daarbij vormde de oude helm van Ronnie Peterson een flinke inspiratiebron, met een gedurfd kleurenpallet en minimaal ontwerp. Dat komt vooral terug in het typische jaren zeventig-vooraanzicht en de dubbele gele lijn aan de onderkant van de helm. Het doel was om de iconische helmen uit de gloriedagen van de Formule 1 een beetje nieuw leven in te blazen en ik hoop dat de helm van Marcus er in positieve zin uitspringt dit jaar. Minder is meer, less is more."

  Opvallend dat hij op de plek van Alfa Romeo (bij Leclerc), het logo van Bauhaus staat. De Italianen zullen wel niet zo weg van hem zijn.

nu nog zo,n klepje (op het vizier (zoals Ronnie had :P ) , verder is het een best mooie helm, herkenbaar ook , en niet te druk zoals de meeste hedendaagse coureurs nu hebben )

Doordat hij dezelfde kleuren gebruikt valt het verschil in 1e instantie niet op.

Ronnie Peterson? Doet mij denken aan simracing, daar zie je ook vaak dat slechte coureurs in Senna's auto willen rondrijden terwijl ze zelf meer van het niveau Forti Ford zijn.

  Inderdaad. Overeenkomst met de Zweedse vlag is groter. Eigenlijk is het een beetje goedkoop, de naam Peterson erbij halen. Monteer dan minstens die zonneklep.
