Ecclestone acht kans op Grand Prix in Vietnam groot

De Formule 1-kalender bevat in 2020 waarschijnlijk een Grand Prix in Vietnam. Dat deelde Bernie Ecclestone mede tijdens een sessie met de media in zijn kantoor in Londen. De voormalige commerciële baas van de koningsklasse van de autosport besprak diverse onderwerpen, waaronder dus de mogelijkheid voor een Formule 1-race in Vietnam.

Reuters citeert Ecclestone: "Ik denk dat er een race in Vietnam gaat komen. Voor zover ik weet is er nog geen overeenkomst gesloten. Maar als er wel al een contract is getekend, dan is er over twee jaar een eerste Vietnamese Grand Prix." Vietnam toonde al eerder belangstelling voor het organiseren van een Grand Prix, maar Ecclestone hield juist de boot af.

De 87-jarige Brit behandelde tevens de dreiging van een vertrek van Ferrari, mocht Liberty Media een koers voor de Formule 1 uitstippelen die de Scuderia niet bevalt. "Er wordt gesproken over een alternatieve raceklasse. Sergio Marchionne (Ferrari-voorzitter, red.) heeft daar met andere partijen over gepraat", aldus Ecclestone.

"Sergio kan niet op een ochtend besluiten om Ferrari terug te trekken uit de Formule 1, dat pikken ze niet. Maar als de FIA een weg inslaat waar ze zich in Maranello niet in kunnen vinden, dan zou Sergio niet aarzelen om Ferrari uit de Formule 1 te halen. Hij is niet iemand die iets roept zonder het serieus te menen en hij is niet iemand die niet doet wat hij zegt."

"Waar het op neerkomt is simpel; de Formule 1 is Ferrari en Ferrari is de Formule 1. Als je waar ook ter wereld met iemand spreekt, dan maalt niemand om de gewone auto's van Ferrari. Ik zou het verschrikkelijk vinden om een Formule 1 zonder Ferrari te zien."

Als er een alternatieve klasse komt met meer herrie , zonder die achterlijke halo en andere dingen en ze krijgen meerdere teams mee , dan kunnen er mooie tijden aanbreken voor de fans .

LM en de FIA zullen er in ieder geval niet blij van worden.

Twee formule (1) klassen , om de week rijden, zitten we elke week voor de t.v ....

Het zou netjes zijn van Ecclestone als hij zich zou onthouden van dit soort uitspraken. Het is aan Liberty om te bepalen of waar nieuwe GP 's komen.

Mooi man, 87 jaar jong en nog komt de hele wereldpers even met Bernie praten... Hopen dat LM de boel snel weer verkoopt voor dat ze de F1 compleet omzeep helpen..

  Och, als ik het interview met Bernie lees en dan met name z'n voorstel om de hele F1 maar electrisch te maken, dan twijfel ik toch wel aan z'n verstandelijke vermogens....

  Nou is dat nu juist het verstandigste wat ik de man in jaren heb horen roepen. Als je echt electrisch geweld wil zien moet je maar eens naar elektrische dragracers kijken. Niet die playmobiel FE. Als al die poen die nu in een dood paard als verbrandingsmotoren wordt gepompt, in de ontwikkeling van betere accu’s en efficiëntere elektromotoren wordt gestopt, moet je eens kijken hoe snel men stappen zet. Linksom of rechtsom is dat gewoon de weg om te gaan. Begrijp me niet verkeerd, ik ben dol op verbrandingsmotoren, maar het is gewoon een doodlopende steeg en eigenlijk vind ik doorontwikkeling verspilling van tijd en geld. Fossiele brandstof is gewoon eindig of je t nu leuk vindt of niet. Wen er maar aan. Waterstof is grappig maar alleen als je het gebruikt voor een aggregaat om een elektromotor mee aan te drijven. Kom niet net accu’s zijn ook vervuilend om te produceren, want dan vergeet men voor t gemak dat de productie van een verbrandingsmotor evengoed milieubelastend is.
