'Overnamegesprekken rondom Force India nog gaande'

Het team van Force India staat nog altijd op het punt om in andere handen te vallen. Een consortium onder aanvoering van Rich Energy hoopt deze maand een overname af te ronden, zo schrijven diverse Britse media waaronder de Express. Met de koop zou zo'n 200 miljoen pond gemoeid zijn.

Force India ontkende de geruchten over een ophanden zijnde overname eerder. De Indiase renstal beweerde dat ze 'geen bod van potentiële investeerders hebben ontvangen of in overweging nemen'. De interesse van Rich Energy lijkt nu echter toch serieuze vormen aan te nemen.

De energiedrankenfabrikant neemt een voorbeeld aan concurrent Red Bull. Eigenaar en oprichter William Storey: "De Formule 1 is het perfecte platform voor ons merk. Autosport draait helemaal om een snelle en glamoureuze levensstijl. Het werkt voor Red Bull."

Het verhaal gaat nu dat de geplande naamswijziging voor het team van Force India is uitgesteld op verzoek van de potentiële nieuwe eigenaren. Zij zouden dan de naam van de renstal voor 2019 willen veranderen.
