Ferrari het grootste slachtoffer van lagere prijzenpot

De tien Formule 1-teams hebben over het voorbije jaar minder prijzengeld mogen verdelen dan over 2016, bleek eind vorige week. De prijzenpot ging in totaal met zo'n 32 miljoen dollar omlaag, en niet met 47 miljoen dollar zoals eerder gerapporteerd. De totale inkomsten van de Formule 1 daalden vorig jaar met 47 miljoen dollar en dat weegt voor twee derde door in het prijzengeld.

Forbes meldt dat Ferrari het grootste 'slachtoffer' van de lagere prijzenpot is. Niet verwonderlijk, aangezien de Scuderia ook altijd een van de teams is die via allerlei bonusregelingen het grootste deel van het prijzengeld opeisen. De Italiaanse renstal ontving in 2017 zo'n 6,9 miljoen dollar minder dan in 2016. Dat zou de dreigende taal aan het adres van Formule 1-eigenaar Liberty Media deels kunnen verklaren.

Wereldkampioen Mercedes leverde ongeveer 5,2 miljoen dollar in, terwijl Red Bull Racing 4,3 miljoen dollar minder opstreek dan in 2016. De impact van de lagere prijzenpot was het minst voelbaar bij Haas F1 Team. De Amerikaanse renstal kon vorig jaar 800.000 dollar minder bijschrijven dan tijdens het debuutseizoen. Gemiddeld kwamen de tien Formule 1-teams 3,2 miljoen dollar per renstal lager uit dan in 2016.

Het prijzengeld is opgebouwd uit twee kolommen, exclusief bonussen. Kolom 1 is een vast bedrag voor teams die in twee van de drie voorbije seizoenen in de top tien zijn geëindigd. Kolom 2 is een verdeling op basis van de klassering uit het voorgaande jaar. De Formule 1 keert het geld de komende maanden uit. De tien renstallen toucheren in totaal 919 miljoen dollar.

  Op basis waarvan krijgt McLaren eigenlijk meer dan Williams? Qua historische waarde zijn ze vrij vergelijkbaar lijkt me, en op recente prestaties is het toch al 4 jaar Williams dat veel hoger eindigt (zelfs al toen ze beide Mercedes motor hadden)

  McLaren heeft recentelijk (2008) nog een kampioenschap gehaald. Voor Williams moeten we dan terug naar 1997. Dat zal 1 van de redenen zijn.

  Een % alle inkomsten/verlies wordt verdeeld. Dat zal bij streaming inkomsten niet anders zijn als bij tv rechten ed.

Over Ferrari gesproken. Brawn heeft uitgesproken dat hij Ferrari niet kwijt wil.

Ross Brawn says he will work to "find a solution" that ends Ferrari's F1 quit threat.

Brawn was once the technical boss during Ferrari's ultra-successful Michael Schumacher era, but now at Liberty Media he is vowing to improve the sport's racing, spectacle and costs.

A row between F1 owner Liberty and Sergio Marchionne resulted in the Ferrari president's post-2020 quit threat, but Brawn insists the Maranello team is "very important" to formula one.

"I worked for them for ten years and carry them in my heart still," he told Auto Motor und Sport.

"Ferrari is an icon and I hope we will find a solution that will work for everyone. A great sport is great for everyone and we do not want Ferrari to leave," Brawn added.

However, Liberty intends to even the income playing field beyond 2020 and distribute power more evenly up and down the pitlane.

"The sport should be fair to all participants, including Ferrari" he said.

Gaat Brawn toch zwichten voor de dreigementen van Ferrari. Waarschijnlijk komt er dan een halfbakken compromis uit qua motor-regels. Vervolgens krijgen we het moddergegooi van Aston Martin-Red Bull en dreigementen om niet in of op te stappen. Ben benieuwd hoe Brawn dan gaat reageren. Want als je je zo opstel bij dat soort dreigementen kom je er nooit meer uit. Tenzij hij wel RBR wil slachtofferen maar Ferrari niet. Ook dat zou trouwens veel stof doen opwaaien....

Als je het er niet mee eens bent moet je wat anders gaan doen en plaats maken voor echte garages . want samen met Mercedes zijn ze dat allang niet meer.
