Red Bull en Aston Martin onthullen circuitversie van Valkyrie

Red Bull en Aston Martin hebben vandaag de circuitversie van de Valkyrie gepresenteerd. Adrian Newey en Christian Horner mochten het doek van de Aston Martin Valkyrie AMR Pro trekken, samen met creatief directeur Marek Reichman van de Britse autobouwer.

Onderhuids is de Valkyrie AMR Pro hetzelfde als de straatlegale versie. Dat houdt in dat de 6-liter V12-motor en het ERS-systeem niet veranderd zijn, maar wel zijn deze opnieuw geprogrammeerd. Zodoende levert de krachtbron van de auto, die alleen op het circuit gebruikt mag worden, meer dan 1100 pk. Het bodywork is aangepast aan de vereisten van een circuit, waardoor de Valkyrie AMR Pro meer dan haar eigen gewicht (1000 kilogram) in downforce genereert. De topsnelheid ligt op ruim 360 kilometer per uur.

Newey is de ontwerper van de bolide, net als bij de straatlegale versie van de Valkyrie. Bij de onthulling vertelde hij: "Voor de straatauto heb ik uitgebreid gebruik gemaakt van mijn kennis in de Formule 1, maar de AMR Pro stelde mij in staat om buiten de beperkingen van straatlegaliteit en praktisch nut te denken. Een aantal geheimen hebben we vandaag onthuld, maar nog lang niet alles. We laten aan het publiek over om te raden waar deze auto toe in staat is qua rondetijden, maar het is voldoende om te zeggen dat het indrukwekkend is."

De Valkyrie AMR Pro wordt slechts in een beperkte oplage van 25 stuks gebouwd. De prijs is onbekend, maar alle exemplaren zijn al verkocht. Leveringen worden in 2020 verwacht. Publiek kan de auto bewonderen op de Autosalon van Geneve, die van 8 tot en met 18 maart gehouden wordt.

Aston Martin heeft al eens aangegeven LeMans te willen rijden in een hypercar klasse (tussen de LMP’s en de GT’s in) samen met o.a. LaFerrari en de McLaren P1. Als dit geen mooi opzetje is.

  Le Mans zou daar ook om moeten draaien... Niks geen gekke regels qua duurzaamheid maar gewoon de snelste productieauto's tegen elkaar. Wil je minder pitstops, dan plaats je maar een grotere tank maar geen gekke hybride regels van met auto's dat in mijn ogen niet meer aansluiten op de merken. De laatste LMP1 die nog een beetje auto leek, was de Nissan.

  Volgens mij in de zelfde categorie als de FXX en Zonda R. Helaas geen klasse, zou toch mooi zijn als ze van dit soort modellen is een race gaan maken.

  Volgens mij heeft Dubai een lokale raceklasse waarbij Hypercars zijn toegestaan... De meeste Hypercars worden helaas niet in een FIA kampioenschap toe gestaan omdat het verschil onderling dermate groot is helaas. Persoonlijk zou ik t graag zien. Koenigsegg, Bugatti, Ferrari, Pagani etc.

Allemaal leuk Adrian, mij persoonlijk maakt het niets uit, maar je hebt ook nog iets van een verplichting richting de Verstappen-fans. Dus, je hebt je dingetje gedaan met de Valkyrie, nu weer over naar belangrijkere dingen, bijvoorbeeld dat blauwe gebakje wat nu in Barcelona rond rijdt. Capiche.... ;-)

  Dat heet een AMG of Brabus uitvoering aanschaffen haha. Of Abarth, Polestar etc... Alsnog redelijk prijzige modellen.

  Nah, een knappe sleeper maken. Altijd leuk om met een Lada b.v. een Lambo er uit te racen.
  
  Ook leuk en betaalbaar een MX5NC/ND model, laten tunen door een Pro, zelf een gehad, heerlijke bestuurders auto, puur rijgenot dat je in moderne wagens niet zo snel vind.
  Zelfs niet die van een paar ton... Standaard moter is te zwak voor enig rijplezier helaas.
