Ericsson vertrouwt op aansluiting bij de middenmoot

Marcus Ericsson is vol vertrouwen dat zijn werkgever Sauber deze winter de aansluiting bij de middenmoot heeft gevonden. De Zwitserse renstal hobbelde vorig jaar een beetje achter de rest aan en kon zich slechts sporadisch mengen in de strijd met andere teams. In 2018 moet Sauber in staat zijn om mee te gaan in de vaart der volkeren.

Ericsson: "Ik geloof dat we in de middenmoot zullen staan, in de onderste helft van de middenmoot. Het is lastig om aan de hand van de wintertests conclusies te trekken. Als we de juiste balans weten te vinden en de banden aan de praat krijgen in Melbourne, dan zouden we in de middenmoot moeten kunnen vechten, in plaats een beetje achteraan het veld te bungelen."

"Dat is het doel, laten we hopen dat het lukt. De motivatie is in overvloed aanwezig, want we weten dat we dit jaar over de middelen beschikken om het te doen. We hebben een nieuwe auto, maar ook de nieuwste specificatie Ferrari-motor, een sterke krachtbron. Daar ontbrak het vorig jaar aan, we reden met de aandrijflijn uit 2016."

"Zelfs als we de auto verbeterden, wisten we dat we door die oude motor nog tekort zouden komen. Dat voelt op dit moment zoveel beter, eerlijk waar. Zoals gezegd hebben we nog wel het een en ander te leren over onze auto, dus verwacht niet dat we in Melbourne al op ons best zijn. Maar ik denk wel dat we daar mee kunnen doen en kunnen knokken."

Je kunt natuurlijk zeggen dat het een realistische doelstelling is,...
maar eerlijk gezegd als je hoopt op een plekje in de onderste helft van de middenmoot en dan dat als je doelstelling neemt zul je wellicht niet hoger grijpen dan dat... ik bedoel de sky is the limit, leg de lat hoger en wees niet tevreden met een plekje iets hoger dan achteraan...
nou heeft Ericsson ook nooit echt winnaarsmentaliteit laten zien, maar als dit de doelstelling voor het gehele team is verwacht ik eigenlijk niet al te veel vuurwerk van Sauber dit jaar. sonde, want ik had nog goede hoop dat de verbintenis met Alfa Romeo en de nieuwe ferrari motor wat leven in de brouwerij zou blazen daarzo.

  Vind ik ook, zeker een grote gunfactor. Maar de onderste helft van de middenmoot is dus zegge en schrijve 1 team wat ze achter zich moeten houden dan. Moet kunnen.

Dat je nu nog wat moet leren van de auto vind ik een beetje vreemd, je hebt net twee weken kunnen testen.

Dat je dan nog gaat zeggen dat je niet verwacht dat je er in Australië zal staan slaat natuurlijk nergens op, je moet er staan in Australië maakt niet uit of je het verwacht ja of nee, je MOET.

Verder hoop ik ook dat ze aansluiting zullen vinden, dat zou de strijd alleen maar ten goede komen.
