Dakar: Gerard de Rooy valt stil vanaf leidende positie

Gerard de Rooy is, net als Wuf van Ginkel, slecht begonnen aan de Dakar Rally. Nadat Van Ginkel eerder vandaag crashte met zijn truck, is ook De Rooy serieus in de problemen gekomen.

De Rooy begon echter goed aan de etappe en kwam met veertien seconden voorsprong op de Rus Chagin, de winnaar van vorig jaar, aan bij het eerste waypoint. Echter, na 72 kilometer moest De Rooy stoppen en staat op moment van schrijven (20:25 uur) al een kwartier stil met waarschijnlijk mechanische problemen.
