FIA ontving nog geen formele klachten over Mekies

De internationale autosportbond FIA heeft nog geen formele klachten ontvangen over de overstap van veiligheidsdirecteur Laurent Mekies naar Ferrari. McLaren en Red Bull Racing hebben de Scuderia ervan beschuldigd een herenakkoord geschonden te hebben. Mekies treedt in september in dienst bij Ferrari. Eind vorig jaar raakte de FIA technisch directeur Marcin Budkowski al kwijt aan Renault.

Daar waren de overige teams verbolgen over en dus spraken ze onderling af dat mensen van de FIA pas na een opzegtermijn van twaalf maanden aan de slag mogen bij een van de Formule 1-teams. Ferrari heeft dat aan zijn laars gelapt bij de komst van Mekies. McLaren-directeur Eric Boullier en Red Bull Racing-teambaas Christian Horner deden daar openlijk hun beklag over.

FIA-wedstrijddirecteur Charlie Whiting heeft echter nog niets van die renstallen vernomen. "Geen enkel team heeft een klacht ingediend bij mij. Ik heb wel wat verhalen gelezen, maar geen van de teams heeft mij benaderd om hun ongenoegen kenbaar te maken. Misschien komt het ter sprake wanneer we over een paar weken met de teams vergaderen."

"Nadat Marcin ons verliet, was er nogal wat onrust in de Strategy Group en de Formule 1 Commissie, zoals jullie misschien wel meegekregen hebben. Als gevolg daarvan zijn bepaalde richtlijnen voorgesteld. Daar werken we nog aan met de relevante teams en onze juridische afdeling om te zien wat wettelijk gezien mogelijk is in de verschillende landen. Die kwestie is nog gaande."

De teams hebben in een herenakkoord afgesproken dat er niet officieel over het verbreken van herenakkoorden mag worden geklaagd bij de FIA.

  Hoezo? Een herenakkoord is juridisch niets waard en er staat qua regels (nog) niets op papier. Wat Ferrari en Renault hebben gedaan is dus niet strafbaar volgens het juridische recht en het sportreglement van de FIA.

  Strafbaar niet maar in regelgeving hebben de teams elkaar nodig om een blok te vormen tegen de FIA. Als er dan geen vertrouwen onderling meer is speelt dut de FIA in de kaart

  @ Rice, klopt toch wat Rick F1 zegt?
  Je geeft het zelf immers al aan, er is een herenakkoord dat juridisch niets waard is, dus heeft het voor de teams totaal geen nut om naar Charlie te gaan.
  Dus als Charlie zegt dat hij nog geen klacht heeft ontvangen, dan heeft hij dus een plank voor zijn hoofd.

  Whiting doet het af alsof het niet zo belangrijk is.
  
  Maar Whiting zelf is pensioengerechtigd en blijft zitten. Het is zijn beoogd opvolger die nu z'n heil elders zoekt.
  
  Dat is wel een kritische vraag waard.
