Raikkonen schrok zich wild van aanstormende Bottas

Het scheelde weinig of Valtteri Bottas was tijdens de tweede vrije training voor de Australische Grand Prix vol achterop de auto van Kimi Raikkonen geklapt. De Fin van Ferrari had zijn landgenoot van Mercedes totaal niet zien aankomen. Bottas kon hem nog maar net ontwijken en vervolgde zijn weg na een ritje door de grindbak. De twee moesten zich na afloop melden bij de stewards, maar er werden geen straffen uitgedeeld omdat er geen opzet in het spel was.

Raikkonen over het voorval: "Ik zag helemaal niks, dat was het probleem. Ik wist dat hij in aantocht was, maar ik kon niet zien waar hij zat. Het team probeerde me via de boordradio nog instructies te geven, maar toen was het al te laat. Ik zag wat rook en een stofwolk en wist dat Valtteri zich daar ergens moest bevinden, maar ik had hem nog steeds niet gezien. Ik was te bang om een kant op te bewegen, omdat ik niet wist waar hij zat. Het was verre van ideaal."

Bottas reageerde luchtig op het incident. "Kimi was bezig met een afkoelrondje en ik ging ervan uit dat hij aan de kant zou gaan. Hij bleef echter op de ideale lijn en toen ik vlak bij hem in de buurt kwam, blokkeerden mijn wielen."

Hoe vond Raikkonen dat de dag verder is verlopen? "Het ging niet verkeerd, maar het kan altijd beter. We hebben wat dingen uitgeprobeerd en dat verbeterde de boel her en der ietsjes. Het gevoel is anders dan tijdens de wintertests, maar het is een ander circuit en de omstandigheden waren ook anders. Het was een normale vrijdag. We vragen ons bij veel dingen nog af hoe we die helemaal juist kunnen krijgen, maar dat is gebruikelijk aan het begin van een seizoen."

Vandaar, had wel beelden gezien van een grasmaaiende Valtteri.. ook Ricciardo, (H)Alo en Verstappen maakten een uitstapje wat wil zeggen dat ze toch best aan het trappen zijn.

Hij had gewoon beter moeten kijken ! overdreven reactie met ik schrok, hij weet toch dat de auto harder dan 100KM per uur kunnen. Met zijn ervaring. Was gewoon niet slim, maar ach kan een keer gebeuren.

  Zeker het zinnetje van geen straf want er was geen opzet in het spel, slaat nergens op. Opzet? Dat had er nog eens bij moeten komen.
  Straffen deel je uit omdat er fouten zijn gemaakt. Met opzet schors je iemand. Niks meer of minder.
  Maar gelukkig is er niks ernstigs gebeurd.

  Rai zat in een afkoel ronde, daardoor ging hij niet voluit. Bottas zat in een snelle ronde, dat verklaard het snelheidsverschil. zo veel is het snelheidsverschil tussen mercedes en ferrari nu ook weer niet xD

Ik lees nu van 2 Ferrari coureurs dat het beter kan... zou dat oprecht zijn? Ja ik weet het.. het kan altijd beter :). Maar toch bekruipt mij een gevoel dat het bij Ferrari nog niet helemaal lekker zit met de balans.
