Maini blijft als ontwikkelingscoureur bij Haas F1 Team

Haas F1 Team bekommert zich komend seizoen om dezelfde twee talenten als vorig jaar. Santino Ferrucci werd gisteren al bevestigd als ontwikkelingscoureur van de Amerikaanse renstal voor 2018 en ook Arjun Maini blijft dit jaar aan het team verbonden. Beide rijders vormen dit seizoen een duo in de Formule 2 bij Trident.

De 20-jarige Maini: "Ik ben extreem trots om onderdeel uit te maken van Haas F1 Team. De betrokkenheid bij een Formule 1-organisatie heeft mijn leerproces behoorlijk versneld wat betreft wat ik moet doen op het circuit en met mijn engineers. Het heeft me enorm geholpen bij de overgang van de GP3 naar de Formule 2. Met dank aan de steun van Haas F1 ben ik weer een stapje dichter bij mijn doel om in de Formule 1 te racen."

Haas F1-teambaas Günther Steiner: "Arjun heeft vorig jaar zijn doorbraak beleefd in de GP3 en we zullen zijn ontwikkeling komend seizoen in de Formule 2 nauwlettend in de gaten houden. Hij heeft er een handje van om in elke raceklasse waarin hij actief is ook successen te boeken en wij ondersteunen hem voor zijn debuutjaar in het voorportaal van de Formule 1."

Maini is een protegé van oud Formule 1-coureur Karun Chandhok. De jonge coureur uit India boekte vorig jaar in Spanje zijn eerste en enige zege in de GP3.
