Ferrari lanceert online stripverhaal WE RACE

Ferrari heeft een opvallend nieuw project gestart. Vandaag lanceerde de Italiaanse renstal een stripverhaal op haar website. De strip heet WE RACE en zal volledig op internet te lezen en te bekijken zijn.

WE RACE is niet de eerste strip die over autosport gaat. De serie Michel Vaillant is inmiddels al een kleine zestig jaar in omloop. Die reeks wordt echter exclusief uitgegeven op papier, terwijl de nieuwe stripserie van Ferrari alleen op het internet te bekijken zal zijn. Ook inhoudelijk zullen de strips enorm verschillend zijn. In Michel Vaillant staan waargebeurde verhalen centraal, waarin Vaillant een toegevoegde rol speelt. Daarnaast zijn de tekeningen daarin erg realistisch.

Dat is in WE RACE niet het geval. De Ferrari-strip speelt zich af in een fictieve wereld in de toekomst en heeft een science-fictionachtig karakter. De futuristisch uitziende auto's halen topsnelheden van ruim 390 kilometer per uur en gemiddelde snelheden op de circuits, die allemaal op verschillende ondergronden verreden worden, liggen tussen de 220 en 290 kilometer per uur. De bolides kunnen zich aanpassen aan de verschillende ondergronden door implementatie van kunstmatige intelligentie in de auto. De hoofdrolspelers in de eerste episode zijn de coureurs Lucas Hoth en zijn rivaal Jim Jager.

Het blijft opvallend dat alle teams "toekomst concepten" graag zien met gesloten straaljagerscherm. Alleen de FIA sluit hun ogen ervoor en bedenkt natuurlijk een half gesloten cockpit systeem.... De Halo....
