Kimi Raikkonen ontsnapt aan gridstraf na 'unsafe release'

Ferrari-coureur Kimi Raikkonen moest zijn bolide in het tweede deel van de tweede training aan de kant zetten vanwege een niet goed gemonteerd wiel. Een 'unsafe release' kan leiden tot een gridstraf, maar na het bestuderen van de beelden en het beluisteren van de communicatie tussen Ferrari en Raikkonen deed de wedstrijdleiding het incident af met een boete van 5.000 euro.

"De stewards constateerden dat de auto met start nummer zeven onveilig op pad werd gestuurd. Het team sommeerde de coureur echter meteen te stoppen. Door de snelle reactie van het team wist de rijder de bolide op een redelijk veilige plaats te parkeren en daarom is besloten het team een geldboete op te leggen. Team en rijder hebben er alles aan gedaan om een onveilige situatie te voorkomen", aldus de FIA in een mededeling na afloop van de tweede vrije training.

      Gewoon weer met 2 maten meten. Ricciardo krijgt gridstraf omdat het in de regels staat. En Raikkonen krijgt geen straf, hoewel deze fout volgens de regels ook met een gridstraf afgehandeld zou moeten worden. Consequent hoor die stewards.

      WTF? Ricciardo rijdt een kilometer te hard in VT1 en wordt terug gezet. Raikkonen verliest een band (niet helemaal) en ze mogen 5000 piek aftikken. Lijkt de politie in Indonesië wel.

      Ricciardo reed te hard onder rood, dat heeft hij zelf in de hand. Dat Raikkonen onveilig wordt weggestuurd, heeft hij niet zelf in de hand. Lijkt me toch fair?

      Ja mrjem, want Haas heeft ook gridstraffen gekregen. Ik ben absoluut geen fan van de rode brigade maar wel realistisch blijven hè. Niks mis met deze beslissing gewoon in lijn met de straffen uit het verleden.

      Sterker nog, de laatste 5 seizoenen heeft geen enkele coureur hiervoor nog een gridstraf gekregen.

      Haas gaat morgen met Ferrari alle monteurs door elkaar husselen, zodat uiteindelijk helemaal niemand meer weet wtf hij moet gaan doen bij een pitstop ;)

    Dit was niet slim van Fiarari, Hamilton 5 gridplaatsen en Kimi ook zoiets. Dan had Seb alleen nog met Bottas en die inferieure RBR af te rekenen. Dit is nou een gemiste kans. Sliep uit, sliep uit.
