Biografie over Kimi Raikkonen verschijnt in augustus

Ferrari-coureur Kimi Raikkonen is een van de meest markante figuren in de Formule 1-paddock. De Fin is niet de meest spraakzame, waardoor de wereldkampioen van 2007 soms wat onverschillig en ongeïnteresseerd overkomt. Aan zijn pure snelheid kunnen echter weinigen tippen.

Raikkonen vormt met zijn eigenzinnige karakter een mooi onderwerp voor een boek, al durfden veel schrijvers het tot nu toe niet aan omdat de Fin geen medewerking wil verlenen. Kari Hotakainen trekt zich daar weinig van aan en is bezig aan een biografie over de Ferrari-coureur. Het boek moet in augustus van dit jaar in het Fins verschijnen. Uitgeverij Q heeft de rechten bemachtigd voor een Nederlandse uitgave van het boek dat de werktitel 'The Unknown Kimi Raikkonen' draagt.

Hotakainen: "Het was mijn idee om een boek over Kimi te schrijven. Ik had nooit gedacht dat het zou gebeuren, maar het wordt nu toch echt realiteit. Het is een lang verhaal en ik zal in een later stadium meer gedetailleerd ingaan op het proces."

Kimi Raikkonen debuteerde in 2001 namens Sauber in de Formule 1. Na één seizoen plukte McLaren hem voor veel geld weg bij de Zwitserse renstal. Voor 2007 maakte hij de overstap naar Ferrari, waarna hij prompt zijn eerste en enige wereldtitel tot nu toe veroverde. Eind 2009 trok de Fin zich terug uit de Formule 1 om zich toe te leggen op rally rijden, maar in 2012 keerde hij terug bij Lotus en sinds 2014 racet hij weer voor Ferrari.
