Dakar: Organisatie ontneemt Faria voor tweede maal de dagzege

Ruben Faria dacht gisteren dan eindelijk zijn eerste etappe van dit jaar in Le Dakar te hebben gewonnen, maar ook zijn zege uit de zesde etappe werd de Portugees ontnomen. Eerder eindigde Faria al als snelste in de eerste etappe, maar ook die zege raakte hij kwijt.

Faria hield zich niet aan de regels voor de tankstop. De reglementen schrijven voor dat een rijder daar minimaal vijftien minuten stil moet staan. Faria ging er echter na 5:13 minuten alweer vandoor. Hij kwam als eerste bij het eindpunt aan, maar nadat de overgebleven 9:47 minuten bij zijn tijd werden opgeteld, is de Portugees als zevende geklasseerd. Zijn landgenoot Helder Rodrigues krijgt hierdoor de zege in zijn schoot geworpen.
