Eind mei deadline voor beslissing over de motorformule

Formule 1-eigenaar Liberty Media wil uiterlijk eind mei weten en laten weten welke motorformule de koningsklasse van de autosport adopteert voor 2021 en daarna. Dat verkondigde Ferrari-teambaas Maurizio Arrivabene vandaag tijdens de FIA-persconferentie in China.

De Italiaan hoopt maar dat iedereen zich aan die datum houdt. Arrivabene: "Liberty heeft ons een deadline gegeven voor eind mei, dacht ik. Ik hoop dat iedereen deze deadline respecteert. Het is aan de ene kant nog heel ver weg, maar aan de andere kant ook heel dichtbij, als je de situatie vanuit technisch perspectief met betrekking tot de motoren bekijkt. Mercedes, Renault, Honda en wij hebben een maand geleden een brief naar Liberty gestuurd om onze standpunten uiteen te zetten. Die zijn dus duidelijk."

Volgens Mercedes-motorsportbaas Toto Wolff was eind mei eerder een streven dan een deadline. Hij vertrouwde Autosport toe: "Om een gedegen voorbereiding met het oog op 2021 wat betreft de aandrijflijn mogelijk te maken is eind mei inderdaad genoemd. Maar dat was niet echt als deadline bedoeld, maar meer als ideale datum."

De huidige 1.6 liter V6-motoren vormen waarschijnlijk het uitgangspunt voor de motorformule voor de toekomst van de Formule 1. De krachtbronnen moeten simpeler, goedkoper en luider worden, staat in de visie van Liberty Media.

Ferrari zal wel met dezelfde verklaring komen als mercedes. Hoe langer je de boel kan vertragen hoe meer voordeel je hebt als grote motorenfabrikant om op korte termijn sneller een motor door te ontwikkelen en die aan te passen op de laatste specificaties.

  Max3382828288010, een motor doorontwikkelen en dan aanpassen op de laatste specificatie, hoe zie je dat voor je. Die nieuwe specificatie gaat impact hebben op het hele design van de motor. Men zal parallel aan huidige motor moeten gaan werken aan een nieuwe specificatie, dat vraagt nogal wat.

Ondertussen al zo vaak geschreven, zo moeilijk is het niet ... De verbrandingsmotor mag blijven, hybride troep er af , dubbele turbo er op, en eventueel een simpel gestandaardiseerd KERS systeem..
