Marcus Ericsson mogelijk bestraft vanwege te hard rijden onder geel

Na het succesvolle weekend voor Sauber in Bahrein, staat het Zwitserse team in China weer met beide beentjes op de grond. Coureurs Marcus Ericsson en Charles Leclerc konden zich niet mengen in de strijd in de middenmoot en starten de race als negentiende en twintigste. Na de kwalificatie kreeg Marcus Ericsson te horen dat hij zich moet melden bij de stewards vanwege te hard rijden onder geel.

De gele vlag waar Ericsson mogelijk te hard reed werd veroorzaakt door teamgenoot Charles Leclerc, die spectaculair spinde bij het opkomen van het rechte stuk en de auto tenauwernood uit de muur wist te houden. In Melbourne kreeg Red Bull-coureur Daniel Ricciardo een gridstraf vanwege het te hard rijden onder geel en strafpunten op zijn licentie.
