Burgemeester Rome vindt Monza belangrijker voor Formule 1

Gianni Alemanno, burgemeester van Rome, stelt voorwaarden aan steun aan een Grand Prix in de straten van de Italiaanse hoofdstad. Als Italië maar één Formule 1-race per seizoen mag organiseren, dan moet die eer weggelegd worden voor Monza en niet voor Rome.

Met die uitspraak tegenover Rai sluit Alemanno zich aan bij Ferrari. Wanneer het aankomt op een keuze tussen Rome en Monza, dan stappen wij terug omdat de Italiaanse Grand Prix op Monza hoort. Een stratenrace en een wedstrijd op een gewoon circuit verschillen echter van elkaar. Er is ruimte om naast elkaar te bestaan en elkaar te steunen. Het is het waard om na te jagen omdat het de toeristenstroom en de aandacht voor heel Italië vergroot.
