Samenwerking tussen Kubica en Rosberg op laag pitje

Nico Rosberg is niet meer actief betrokken bij het begeleidingsteam van Robert Kubica. Dat onthulde de test- en reserverijder van Williams tegenover Motorsport-Total.com. Kubica schakelde eind vorig jaar de hulp van Rosberg in, in de hoop dat de wereldkampioen van 2016 hem met zijn connecties aan een racestoeltje voor 2018 kon helpen. Dat lukte niet en de samenwerking is na het afronden van het testcontract van Kubica bij Williams op een laag pitje komen te staan.

"We zien en spreken elkaar veel minder dan eind vorig jaar, al houden we wel contact", begint Kubica. "De onderlinge band is nog steeds intact en goed. Ik doe wat ik moet doen en Nico heeft andere projecten aan zijn hoofd. Hij is een drukbezet man en heeft daarnaast ook nog een familie waar hij graag tijd aan besteed. Daar is zeker niks mis mee en dat is zijn goed recht, maar mijn missie is nog niet voltooid en daarom kies ik voor mensen die daar fulltime mee aan de slag kunnen."

Kubica wil nog altijd een comeback maken in de Formule 1. Niet slechts als test- en reservecoureur, maar als vaste rijder bij een van de teams. Hij vertrouwt daarbij onder andere op oude bekende Alessandro Alunni Bravi, een Italiaanse advocaat die teambaas is geweest bij Formule 2-team Trident en Nicolas Todt heeft geassisteerd bij de begeleiding van coureurs als Felipe Massa en Jules Bianchi.

"Ik heb het naar mijn zin, al zijn de Grand Prix-weekenden wel lastig als toeschouwer", vervolgt Kubica. "Er is niet veel dat ik kan doen. Het stelt me wel in de gelegenheid om de Formule 1 van een andere kant te leren kennen. Of ik ooit nog met Rosberg samen zal werken, mochten we uitzicht hebben op een racestoeltje? Dat hangt niet alleen van mij, maar ook van de situatie af."

Ik denk dat je Rosberg heel erg onderschat. Dat gebeurd wel meer hier op het forum ;-)

Ik zie in Rosberg ook niet echt een 'zakenman', die écht zaken voor elkaar kan krijgen.
Lijkt me idd een goed idee van Kubica om iemand anders daar voor in te zetten.

  @Jeroenn04 Ik denk dat je de familie Rosberg weinig hoeft uit te leggen hoe er zaken moeten worden gedaan zowel binnen als buiten de F1.

Rosberg maakt gewoon nog wat beginnersfouten, kun je hem niet kwalijk nemen, hij zit pas kort in het vak als manager.

  Kubica, dat is toch wel het allerminste wat uit de deal is gehaald, en hij moet er nog geld voor neertellen om een paar keer te mogen testen. Lijkt me geen goede uitkomst.

  Ik totaal niet. Want hij is al ervaren en hoeft niets te leren. Hij heeft zich al bewezen en voldoende tests gehad. Om dan vervolgens voor veel geld een paar trainingen te mogen doen noem ik een flop. Een desperate actie van Kubica om toch te mogen rijden. Dat is wat anders dan een rookie..
