Vijf plaatsen gridstraf voor Nico Hülkenberg vanwege bakwissel

Renault-coureur Nico Hülkenberg wordt na afloop van de kwalificatie voor de Azerbeidzjaanse Grand Prix vijf plaatsen terug gezet op de startopstelling vanwege een versnellingsbakwissel. Hülkenberg liet de slotfase van de laatste vrije training schieten, omdat Renault een probleem ontdekte aan de auto van de Duitser.

Na de training heeft Renault besloten om de versnellingsbak van Hülkenberg te vervangen. De reglementen schrijven voor dat een versnellingsbak zes weekenden mee moet gaan. De bak van Hülkenberg's RS18 voldeed niet aan die voorwaarde.
