Cyril Abiteboul vergeeft Nico Hülkenberg: "Vorig jaar ook maar één fout"

Renault-teambaas Cyril Abiteboul vergeeft zijn coureur Nico Hülkenberg de fout die hij maakte in Bakoe wat het team een dubbele finish in de punten kostte. De Duitser maakte een stuurfout in bocht vier en kwam hard in aanraking met de muur waardoor hij de race moest staken.

Eén fout in Bakoe

Op het moment reden Hülkenberg en teamgenoot Carlos Sainz respectievelijk op de vierde en vijfde plaats tijdens de Grand Prix van Bakoe en dus lagen er mogelijkheden om een behoorlijke tik uit te delen aan de directe concurrenten. Nu moest het team genoegen nemen met tien punten en ligt het een punt achter op McLaren in plaats van een aantal punten voor.

Abiteboul over de fout van zijn coureur: "Afgelopen jaar was het zijn enige fout die hij maakte, dus als het dit jaar weer het geval is, één fout in Bakoe, dan staan we er niet te lang bij stil en is hij vergeven. Hij liep de kans mis om onderdeel van het feest te zijn want het was duidelijk een geweldige race."

Blokkerende achterwielen

De Renault-coureur zelf gaf aan dat hij eerder al een probleem had met blokkerende wielen. "Wij gingen goed van start, maar ik verloor de achterzijde van de wagen aan het einde van bocht vier en dat betekende einde race. Ik had al eerder blokkerende achterwielen in die bocht en de wind was ook lastig. Het is ongelukkig, maar zo loopt het soms", aldus Hülkenberg.

  @Droopz, dat was ook vlak voor het ongeluk als ik me goed herinner (tenminste uitgezonden). Hij zit blijkbaar echt aan zijn Tax en elk "extra's" levert problemen op. Zal extra zuur zijn dat juist weer Perez wel op podium stond.

  Zou kunnen dat hij extra spanning krijgt inderdaad. De oplossing is uiteindelijk wel een keer dat podium pakken. Ik vind hem sterk rijden in ieder geval.

Blokkerende achterwielen is wel raar. Zou het niet een gevolg kunnen zijn van de klap op het linkerachterwiel in ronde 1 met Sirotkin en Alonso?
