Charles Leclerc: "Ferrari dankbaar voor vele hulp die ze me geven"

Charles Leclerc maakte eind maart zijn Formule 1-debuut en heeft inmiddels tien WK-punten verzameld in de Alfa Romeo-Sauber. De Monegask kende een moeizaam begin van het jaar, maar imponeerde met puntenfinishes in Azerbeidzjan en Spanje. Komend weekend rijdt Leclerc zijn thuisrace. Leclerc wordt al in verband gebracht met Ferrari, maar dat is volgens de coureur van Sauber nog te vroeg.

Dat er gespeculeerd wordt over een toekomst van Leclerc bij Ferrari is geen wonder: de Monegask maakt deel uit van het talentenprogramma van Ferrari en heeft zijn stoeltje bij Sauber mede te danken aan zijn connecties met het Italiaanse merk. Leclerc is dankbaar voor de vele hulp die hij van Ferrari krijgt: "Natuurlijk moet ik het zelf doen op het circuit, maar Ferrari helpt me heel erg door me van advies te voorzien en vanwege het feit dat ik gebruik mag maken van de simulator van Ferrari. Mijn focus voor dit seizoen ligt volledig bij Sauber, rijden voor Ferrari is een droom maar ik hou me daar nu nog niet mee bezig."

Volgens journalist Will Buxton zou Leclerc volgend jaar wel de overstap kunnen maken naar het team van Haas, om zo te kunnen wennen aan een betere en snellere auto.

    Hij heeft Marcus nu al in de broekzak en dat is incl de 5 kilo die Marcus kwijt was.
    Volgens seizoen Romain vervangen en in 2020 zijn eerste overwinning. Komt helemaal goed.

    Volgens de Italiaanse versie van MS.C lijkt het er op dat Ferrari nog 1 jaar door gaat met Kimi (ondanks gesprekken met Ric) en dat ze inderdaad Leclerc dan waarschijnlijk nog 1 jaar parkeren bij Haas om hem dan in 2020 in de Ferrari te zetten.

      Kimi wordt volgend jaar 40....sinds Nigel Mansell 1994 hebben we niet meer iemand van die leeftijd gezien in een topauto.

      Ik hoop het! Heb geen goed gevoel bij dani. Beter nog een jaartje rai en dan leclerc dan heeft de opleiding ook zijn nut gehad en verjongd Ferrari weer eens een keer.

      Ik vond ricciardo aantrekken als je deze jongen onder contract hebt staan ook al vreemd. Ricciardo is een geweldige coureur maar je leidt misschien wel het grootste talent van de toekomst niet op om hem vervolgens niet in de Ferrari te kunnen zetten

      @ Naldor,

      stel, Vettel houd het over 2 jaar gezien bij Ferrari, komend jaar zou Daniel instappen Vettel weg dan LeC ernaast met meer ervaring inmiddels, line up Riciardo/LeClerc is een mogelijkheid.

    Ferrari kennende komt er nooit een jong talent in een Ferrari ze hebben al zoveel talenten gehad en ze kiezen helaas steeds weer voor ervaring

      Ik denk dat Leclerc wel de kwaliteiten heeft om over een paar jaar die stap te maken, zo'n groot talent heeft Ferrari al lang niet meer gehad en het schijnt ook een geweldig ventje te zijn om mee te werken.

      Zou mooi zijn als dat zo was volgend jaar Haas en over 2 jaar naar Ferrari dan Ocon naar Mercedes en Verstappen met een goed draaiende Honda onder zijn kont en we hebben voor de eerste 5 jaar veel actie
