Ferrari zoekt geen vervanger voor vertrekkende ontwerper Resta

Ferrari gaat niet op zoek naar een vervanger voor de vertrekkende hoofdontwerper Simone Resta. De ontwerper vertrekt naar het team van Sauber, na zeventien jaar in dienst te zijn geweest in Maranello. Versterking van buitenaf is volgens Ferrari niet nodig, omdat ze het vertrek intern kunnen opvangen.

Bij Ferrari heeft men het plan om de taken van Resta te verdelen over een aantal engineers in plaats van het binnenhalen van externe versterking. De interne oplossing bespaart Ferrari geld, maar heeft ook de maken met de filosofie die de Scuderia is ingeslagen sinds technisch-directeur Mattia Binotto aan het roer staat.

Binotto is een voorstander van het bieden van kansen aan jong talent binnen het team. Ook hecht de technische baas meer waarde aan het werken in groepsverband in plaats van individuele afdelingen binnen het team van ontwerpers.

De taken van Resta worden op dit moment overgenomen door zijn voormalig-assistent Fabio Montecchi en David Sanchez, hoofd van de aerodynamica-afdeling. Ook Enrico Cardile, een aerodynamica-specialist vanuit de GT-tak van Ferrari die sinds 2016 bij het Formule 1-project betrokken is, draagt bij.
