Mercedes op zoek naar oplossingen voor hypersoft-probleem

Het team van Mercedes is naarstig op zoek naar oplossingen voor de bandenproblemen die het team in Monaco ondervond op de hypersofts. Lewis Hamilton en Valtteri Bottas ondervonden meer slijtage dan de concurrenten in het prinsdom en aangezien de compund ook in Canada gebruikt wordt, moeten er oplossingen gevonden worden.

“We hebben wel een idee wat er mis ging en nu gaan we aan het werk om volledig te begrijpen wat er gebeurde, want we moeten het opgelost hebben voor Montreal", aldus Andrew Shovlin, engineer bij Mercedes.

"We gebruiken dezelfde banden (als in Monaco, red.), dus dan kun je dezelfde problemen verwachten. We moeten dat voorkomen, want als je in Montreal snelheid verliest en je veel bandenslijtage hebt, dan wordt je eenvoudig ingehaald."

En dan laten ze Vettel het vergelijk in banden testen en die komt tot de conclusie dat het zelfs voor Ferrari voordelen heeft.

      Het bandenprobleem is niet nieuw bij Mercedes natuurlijk.
      Bij de introductie van de ultra hadden ze dat ook.
      Niet zo fel als nu, omdat die hyper nog zachter is.

      Ik zou het eerder in het basis ontwerp gaan zoeken.

      En ja hoor alle oude koeien uit de sloot zijn compleet ;-)

      Laten we maar blij zijn zolang mb het niet onder controle heeft, want zodra ze deze nieuwe banden begrijpen (zie vorige jaren) dan gaan ze als een speer.

    Laat ze maar zweten, uiteindelijk komen ze er wel uit. Maar het blijkt dus wel dat Ferrari en vooral Red Bull betere mechanische grip hebben en een beter uitgebalanceerd chassis. Dat compenseert dat weer in het geval van RB het mindere motor vermogen. Het wordt een spannend seizoen tussen de 3 top teams. Let maar op, vanaf Canada gaat alles er anders uitzien.

      Blijkt weer dat fer en rbr een betere chassis hebben, alhans voor de banden en dus performance

    Andere keuzes maken en racen op banden die wel bij de wagen passen. Daarom vrij geven van bandenkeuze.

    Ik verwacht dat Mercedes in Canada redelijk makkelijk Q3 kan halen op US, en zo om de problemen heen kunnen rijden dit weekend.

      Dan worden bij de start ingehaald. Vervolgens rijden Redbull en Ferrari net zo lang door op de hyper als Mercedes op de ultra's.

      Klopt, echter als je de afelopen seizoenen gevolgd hebt dan weet je dat ze in elk seizoen begin problemen hebben met banden slijtage.
      En ik weet nog dat ze op gegeven moment beter met de banden omgingen dan fer en rbr
