Nico Hülkenberg wil puntenfinish Monaco in Canada herhalen

Na twee races waarin Nico Hülkenberg de finish niet haalde reed de Duitser in Monaco eindelijk weer in de punten. Dat krijgt als het aan de Renault-coureur ligt een vervolg krijgen in Canada, een lastig circuit om de juiste afstelling voor de wagen te vinden.

Verder bouwen

In Monaco moest hij hard knokken voor de achtste plek, terugblikkend zegt Hülkenberg: "We kwamen goed terug nadat we Q3 miste in Monaco en dankzij een goede strategie pakten we punten in de race. Over het geheel genomen was het een goed weekend en belangrijk voor het team om beide wagens in de top tien te hebben. Nu moeten we verder bouwen door dat te herhalen in Montreal, maar dan iets hoger in de eindstand."

Zwaar voor de remmen

Vooruitkijkend naar de Grand Prix van Canada zegt hij: "Het gaat in Canada om topsnelheid en de juiste balans met de downforce vinden. Er zitten een aantal lange rechte stukken in en het is één van de zwaarste circuits voor de remmen. De wagen zo instellen dat hij de kerbs kan nemen is ook heel belangrijk om een snelle ronde te kunnen neerzetten."

Laatste chicane

Het punt waar het allemaal gaat gebeuren is aan het einde van de ronde volgens Hülkenberg. "Mogelijkheden om in te halen in Canada zijn behoorlijk beperkt, maar de laatste chicane is waarschijnlijk de beste plaats. Het is de plaats waar je de ronde kan maken of breken. Ook de strategie kan interessant zijn omdat we weer op hypersofts rijden zoals in Monaco. Rondetijden zullen erg snel zijn", zo sluit hij zijn voorbeschouwing af.

Ik zou hem graag een keer bij een topteam willen zien rijden, maar ik vrees dat het niet gaat gebeuren.

  Mee eens, Bij een topteam kan hij zijn ware potentieel laten zien, Daar kunnen wij met zijn allen nog wel eens van staan te kijken.

  Renault kan een topteam worden. Genoeg budget. En vanaf 2021, als de regels voor de motoren versimpelen, zou die Renault motor wel eens terug bovenin kunnen zitten.

De Hulk doet het goed , maar Sainz doet het de laatste wedstrijden nog beter , is nog maar 6 punten verschil , was voorheen veel meer.
Wie het gaat winnen aan het eind van het seizoen , ik vind het een moeilijke deze keer

  Nou sorry hoor, maar Sainz kijkt nog steeds tegen een achterstand aan, is tijdens de races consequent langzamer en heeft enkel zoveel punten doordat Nico zijn wagen niet aan de finish kon brengen

  @Rogier, klopt, maar aangezien Hulk zijn race compleet onnodig verknalde, is het puntenverschil wel terecht. Maar dat hij duidelijk de snellere van de twee is ben ik het volledig mee eens.

  De Hulk heeft één race zelf verknald. Bij de andere situaties kon hij er niks aan doen. Afgezien van die ene race is hij Sainz volop de baas.
