Sauber-duo hoopt op competitief weekend in Montreal

Marcus Ericsson en Charles Leclerc hopen tijdens de Grand Prix van Canada competitief te kunnen zijn. Het duo heeft naar eigen zeggen kansen om mee te strijden in het middenveld, waardoor punten mogelijk voor het oprapen liggen.

"Ik kijk ernaar uit om terug te keren naar Montreal", aldus Ericsson. "Het is een geweldig circuit met lange rechte stukken en zware rempunten, waardoor het een interessante race is om te rijden. Ook zijn er een aantal technische sectoren en is er uiteraard de beroemde wall of champions, dat maakt het een uitdaging."

"We naderen het weekend met een reeks sterke resultaten op zak. Het wordt interessant om te zien waar we staan op een circuit als dit. Ik denk dat er een aantal goede kansen zijn voor ons in het middenveld, dus ik kan niet wachten om het weekend te beginnen."

Teamgenoot Leclerc wacht een nieuwe ervaring in Canada. "Ik ben nog nooit op het Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal geweest. Ik heb wel in de simulator gereden en dat vond ik erg gaaf, dus het wordt een geweldige ervaring om er voor het eerst echt te zijn."

"We hebben ons potentieel de afgelopen races getoond en gezien de layout van dit circuit, denk ik dat we er competitief moeten kunnen zijn", vervolgt de Monegask zijn verhaal. "Al met al wordt het een interessant weekend."

Wellicht kan LeClerc weer eens verrassen door die Alfa in Q2 te plempen en gewoon goed met de middenmoot mee te doen en wellicht nog zelfs een puntje te sprokkelen!

Ericsson heeft nu een auto waar hij een beetje kan mee draaien in de middenmoot.
Dit is zijn kans om te laten zien wat hij werkelijk waard is. Anders kan het snel klaar zijn met deze knappe meneer aangezien zijn sponsor er waarschijnlijk uit zal rollen.
