Bottas prijst Mercedes: "Nieuwe motor voelt erg sterk"

Valtteri Bottas was de laatste twee races, circuits waar Mercedes niet zo sterk op bleek, telkens de betere van de twee Mercedessen, maar zoals zo vaak op een circuit waar Mercedes de sterkste auto lijkt te hebben, was het toch weer teamgenoot Lewis Hamilton die aan het langste eind trok. Bottas was dan ook niet helemaal tevreden over zijn laatste ronde in de kwalificatie voor zijn eerste Grand Prix van Frankrijk.

"Mijn laatste rondje was niet slecht, maar ook niet perfect. Het lukt al het hele weekend niet om een perfect rondje te rijden. Bovendien heb ik veel tijd verloren tijdens de tweede vrije training en in VT3 werd er natuurlijk sowieso niet veel gereden en ik was dus eigenlijk tijdens de kwalificatie nog bezig om die verloren tijd goed te maken," zei Bottas tijdens de top drie interviews. "De nieuwe motor voelt erg goed. Hij was fris en voelde erg sterk, dus het team heeft hiermee weer fantastisch werk geleverd, maar hopelijk kunnen we morgen laten zien hoe sterk hij is."

Het team van Mercedes lijkt zich na de motorupgrade echter op te kunnen maken voor een makkelijke race. In de kwalificatie was het team oppermachtig. De vraag blijft alleen hoe veel last Mercedes gaat hebben van de bandenslijtage, maar aangezien de long runs er ook sterk uitzagen in de vrije trainingen, wordt het erg moeilijk voor Ferrari en Red Bull om hen het vuur aan de schenen te leggen.

  @TylaHunter. Het scheelt ong 2 tienden ten opzichte van spec 1 motor dus dat is nou ook weer geen wereld van verschil voor de klantenteams.

Mercedes lijkt weer een enorme stap te hebben gezet met deze 2.1 spec, hopelijk kunnen Ferrari en Vettel ook nog een tandje bijzetten.

  Ferrari en Red Bull hebben er in Canada al nieuwe motoren ingezet en een motor moet 6 a 7 races meegaan dusja voorlopig heeft Mercedes weer een motorvoordeel.
