Mercedes-coureurs erg te spreken over verbeterde W09

Het team van Mercedes werkt de laatste tijd extra hard om de sterke vorm van afgelopen seizoenen weer terug te krijgen. Het Duits-Britse team werd dit jaar al meerdere keren afgetroefd door Red Bull en Ferrari en antwoordde in Frankrijk met een upgrade van de motor en een klinkende overwinning voor Lewis Hamilton. In Oostenrijk zitten er flink wat aerodynamische updates op de bolide van Lewis Hamilton en Valtteri Bottas en die lijken hun werk uitstekende te doen, gezien het gemak waarmee beide coureurs de tijdenlijsten topten in de vrijdagtrainingen op de Red Bull Ring.

Lewis Hamilton laat weten dat hij meteen een verbetering voelde: "Het voelde meteen al goed aan toen we de eerste keer de baan op gingen. Het is goed dat we een verbeterd pakket hebben. De mensen in de fabriek werken erg hard en het resultaat daarvan is dat de auto goed aanvoelt en dat we een stap vooruit hebben gezet. In de eerste training voelde het haast perfect, op basis van de tweede training moeten we nog wat fine-tunen."

Teamgenoot Valtteri Bottas valt zijn Britse collega bij: "De achterkant van de auto voelt veel stabieler aan. Vorig jaar was dat een probleem hier. We wonnen de race, maar gemakkelijk was het niet omdat er blaren op de banden kwamen. Met de hogere temperaturen in het vooruitzicht en een stabiele wagen zouden we daar nu minder last van moeten hebben."

  Dat zit er dik in. Ik gun Bottas na zijn pech wel een keer de bovenste trede, maar vrees dat Lewis aan een reeks bezig is.

Je zou zeggen dat de rek kwa verbeteren er wel een keer uit moet zijn maar ze blijven nieuwe vondsten vinden. Dat maakt racen zo bijzonder

  Bijzonder? ok vind het knap hoe Mercedes iedere keer weer met een verbeterde update komt, maar t bevordert niet de spanning....
