Miami mist deadline voor Formule 1-contract

Het is de Formule 1 niet gelukt om de deadline te halen van het stadsbestuur van Miami om vanaf 2019 een Formule 1-race te organiseren. Miami had een deadline van 1 juli ingesteld, maar er is vooralsnog geen contract getekend. 

Stephanie Severino, verantwoordelijk voor de communicatie van het stadsbestuur van Miami, bevestigt dat er vooralsnog geen verbintenis op tafel ligt. Ook is het nog onduidelijk of er onderhandeld wordt over een contract, aangezien er felle tegenstand ontstond toen de plannen van een race door Miami bekend werden gemaakt.

Aanvankelijk was het de bedoeling dat het circuit deels door een ontwikkelingsgebied zou lopen, maar op die plek moet een natuurpark gecreëerd worden. Een alternatief zou een route door Bayfront Park zijn, maar lokale bewoners hebben daar bezwaar aangetekend omdat een Grand Prix teveel lawaai zou veroorzaken.

      Wat ik niet snap is dat men niet terug gaat naar New York. Daar was al flink wat voorbereidend werk gedaan op de Grand Prix die er nooit gekomen is. Voor een gemiddelde fan is een race met op de achtergrond de skyline van New York denk ik leuker dan een race in Miami.

      New York is een dingetje mee!
      B Ecclestone heeft daar de rechten van gekocht, daar wil Liberty M denk ik niet om de tafel.
      Ecclestone zal eerst het hoekje om moeten, dan kan er met de nieuwe eigenaar pas onderhandeld worden.

      Als ze zich "kwaad" maken in Assen, zijn de aanpassingen zo gepiept. Maar van mij hoeft het ook niet, laat ze zich daar maar lekker focussen op de motorsport. De afgelopen Moto GP race is door veel fans verkozen tot één van de beste uit de historie, o.a door de maar liefst 175 inhaalacties.

      Maleisie?, ben er 3 keer geweest. Probleem is dat de loklae bevolking de GP te duur vindt in vergelijking tot bv een voetbalwedstrijd en dat terwijll het 1 van de goedkooptse GP's is. Men is er anti GP en het bezoek is erg gedaald al hadden ze vorig jaar nog 110.000 bezoekers over 3 dagen. Het ligt er ook maar net aan welke minister het voor het zeggen heeft. Ik denk dat na een pauze van een paar jaar Sepang wel weer terug komt. Dat hoorde ik van een taxischauffeur.

      Ha ha. Ja, vast. Maar het gaat me om wat Fasttrickey hierboven opmerkt.

      Waar blijft de nieuwe redacteur met HBO-niveau eigenlijk? Die is ons al maanden geleden beloofd en we moeten nog steeds aankijken tegen het geknoei van iemand zonder HBO-niveau.

      Schrijven, ook voor webgerelateerde stukken, is echt een vak. Helaas denken velen dat wel even te kunnen omdat ze dagelijks als toetsenbordridders over het net struinen. Daarnaast kost een goede copywriter gewoon geld en dat is nu net de nekkenbreker voor dit soort eenvoudige forums welke vaak uit ‘eigen’ interesse voor het onderwerp zijn ontstaan. Vul dit aan met overhaaste plaatsing van nieuws om maar snel genoeg te zijn t.o.v. concurrenten en het niveau is zoals we het mogen ervaren.

    @StevenQ Assen kan in de winterperiode volledig klaar gemaakt worden voor F1. Zandvoort gaat inderdaad wat langer duren, ik schat zo'n jaartje of twintig tot never nooit niet.

    Er zijn zoveel regels, dat er straks niet fatsoenlijk een contract afgesloten kan worden voor een nieuwe GP.. Jammer!
